Samsung is updating its Windows Mixed Reality headset with the arrival of the new Samsung Odyssey + model, with which the South Korean form intends to make things very difficult for its rivals. This new version focuses on improving the perceived image quality.

Samsung's original model was one of the best for Windows Mixed Reality, and this revamped model comes with a few minor tweaks to make things better. The device has the same size of dual 3.5-inch AMOLED screen each, with a resolution of 1440 x 1600 pixels per eye and a field of view of 110 degrees, but this time there is a wider eye box to prevent fogging while using the device, one of the ills of these products.

In addition to this, Samsung is using anti-screen door effect (Anti-SDE) technology to improve pixelation, which sometimes occurs with VR devices. This technology is designed to make the spaces between the pixels less visible and therefore increase the user-perceived PPI from 616ppi in the previous model to 1, 233ppi in the new version. This should help prevent some dizziness or nausea by reducing the annoying grille effect during use.

Other changes include a new interpupillary distance wheel to adjust the distance between the lenses, to better adapt to the user's eyes, and an anti-fog material for filling the face. The new Samsung Odyssey + headset will be available at Microsoft stores or Samsung.com at a price of $ 499.
