Samsung patents a gesture-controlled drone

Samsung's latest patent is related to a drone with an integrated display that can detect a person's face and pupils, as well as their gestures and hand position. All this would be used with the control system of this new device.

The patent describes a drone that can include a camera and an observation system to transmit information to the main control unit. This system can track the eyes, head, hands or fingers of users in real time, this information would be used to control the speed and direction of the drone flight, the unit can also automatically track users without any additional gesture.

The patent describes a joint manipulator that can change the angle of inclination of the flight, it could also include a gyroscope sensor, a motion sensor, a vibration system and an accelerometer. Finally, voice recognition capabilities are described , as well as GPS and a Wi-Fi-based positioning system.
The drone will also feature an obstacle detection unit that will allow it to automatically detect and avoid structures and other objects while in flight. Finally it is mentioned that it is capable of detecting people and following them without the need for any additional order.
Samsung is not the only company working with drones, as Amazon has also patented plenty of drone concepts, including ones that can self-destruct in an emergency.
