Samsung wants to revolutionize remote access on their smart TVs

Samsung continues to innovate on technologies like its new remote access technology for smart TVs, which almost sounds like Chromecast technology but with a certainly more interesting twist.

Samsung has a new remote access technology

While Chromecast is truly a one-way street with the TV simply acting as an external display, in other words, there is no way to control the source device other than directly controlling it, Samsung's remote access is more akin to a remote PC where you can connect to a PC, tablet or phone located in another part of the house and also control it from the TV. You probably prefer using a keyboard and mouse, of course, and Samsung's Smart TVs support them.

The goal is, oddly enough, to allow Smart TV owners to be productive on the biggest screen in their home, or at least avoid having to get up just to check their PCs. Samsung also says that remote access can be used anywhere in the world through its collaboration with VMWare. Unfortunately, details are still scarce at the moment.

Samsung is still a bit shy about what remote access will require. It only says that it will be available on its Smart TVs starting next year, which means that existing Smart TV models will be left out of the party. Samsung has yet to reveal the system requirements for PCs and mobile devices, casting doubt on macOS and iOS products.

It remains to be seen whether this novelty from Samsung marks a change in the market trend or stays in something that has not yet taken off, such as its Tizen operating system.
