Samsung and SK Hynix have become the new target of industrial espionage from Chinese memory chip makers. Patents are fundamental to the cost structure, companies must protect what they have obtained by dedicating decades. Infringement of these patents is intellectual theft. Chinese companies are finding that developing the technology necessary for DRAM manufacturing and manufacturing processes is more difficult than they thought.

Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix closely follow the ongoing legal battle between Micron Technology and Fujian Jin Hua IC in the Chinese courts, where the American company is failing in counterclaims.
