Vodafone penalty of 500, 000 euros for blocking numbering 118AB
These are two serious infractions which the company carried out. Both are related to the interconnection with assignee operators numbering 118AB. Reason for which the operator will receive said sanction. A very high amount for Vodafone.
Vodafone sanctioned
The reasons for the fine that the company receives have been more detailed. On the one hand, Vodafone committed an infringement of article 76.15 of the General Telecommunications Law. For this infraction the company receives a fine of 300, 000 euros. Vodafone suspended the interconnection to 8 118AB numbers without notifying any of the operators affected by this situation. Nor did they notify the National Commission of Markets and Competition.
The other 200, 000 euros that make up the sanction come from another serious offense. In this case for a violation of article 76.12. Because they did not restore the connection to the 5 suspended numbers. The operator did not comply at any time with what was promised or with the deadlines. For this they receive this sanction.
The company considers this sanction unfair and disproportionate and they have already stated that they are going to appeal it. So this story is still far from over. We will see if finally the company has to pay this sanction of 500, 000 euros or if its amount is reduced.
