HMD is very busy reviving old Nokia brands, the latest of which is the Sirocco line. The TA-1005 has just been named Nokia 8 Sirocco. A logo with that inscription was found earlier this month and it would be an updated 'premium' model of the Nokia 8 'to dry' that was launched last year.

Nokia 8 Sirocco would be a new 'premium' model

The name seems to be a tribute to the old Nokia 8800 Sirocco, which is named after the Mediterranean wind from the Sahara. The Sirocco model differed from the basic 'old' 8800 by its sapphire crystal, molded steel panels, and a leather case included in the box - it was Nokia's most expensive model at the time.

The model name TA-1005 was presumed to be the Nokia 9, a claim backed by several updates. The main changes are an OLED screen from LG, a dual camera with autofocus and greater storage capacity. The chipset (S835), main camera (12MP + 13MP), battery (3, 250mAh), and most of the rest are likely to remain unchanged.

HMD promised incredible things for the CMM event, so we hope they continue to announce new Nokia phones. The Nokia 8 Sirocco (as the rumors describe it) looks like a mid-term upgrade rather than an entirely new model. We will keep you informed as soon as we have the complete specifications of it.
