Intel core i3-8100 & i3 revealed
Table of contents:
- Intel will make the leap to 4 cores with its new Core i3
- Intel would present these new i3s on August 21
It seems that Intel is planning to take a step forward with its new Intel Core i3 Coffee Lake to offer 4 physical cores instead of 2 in its most basic line of processors. That's what a new leak shows us of the Core i3-8100 and Core i3-8350K processors, which would be very close to being announced, in a matter of weeks.
Intel will make the leap to 4 cores with its new Core i3
Previously we had the information that the next i3-8300 would have 4 cores and now two other processors are added to this family that would have the same number of cores, the i3-8100 and the i3-8350K.
As we can see in the table, the three new processors of the Coffee Lake architecture would use the LGA1151 socket with 4 processing cores. The i3-8350K would be the most powerful in the family running at 4.0GHz and 8MB of L3 cache with a TDP of 91W. As is usually the case in the 'K' series, it will come with the multiplier unlocked to do real tricks with overclocking.
Intel would present these new i3s on August 21
The Intel Core i3-8100 would be the most modest model with a base frequency of 3.6GHz and a L3 cache of 6MB, the TDP would be 65W in this case, like the i3-8300.
Best of all, Intel would present these new i3s on August 21, where they should comment on the price they will have, if it is not leaked before. Recall that currently the i3-7350K 'Kaby Lake' is costing around 180 euros, which should drop in price once these new Coffee Lake break into stores.
