Sharkoon Drakonia II is a new gaming mouse that comes to the market to demonstrate that it is not necessary to spend a lot of money to obtain a high-performance product, and capable of satisfying the needs of the biggest gamers. This second review of one of the most successful mice includes a 15, 000 DPI Pixart 3360 optical sensor and best precision, along with 12 customizable buttons.
We will take the opportunity to make a comparison in use with its predecessor, the Sharkoon Drakonia I.
First of all, we thank Sharkoon for the trust placed in us when transferring the product to us for analysis.
Sharkoon Drakonia II technical characteristics
Unboxing and design
This Sharkoon Drakonia II mouse is committed to a simple presentation, but it lives up to what the best brands in the sector offer in most of its models. The box is printed in the company's corporate colors, and highlights the most important characteristics of this mouse, which we will see throughout this analysis.
Inside the box we find the Drakonia II, a transport bag, a CD with the configuration software and an additional set of legs for the mouse.
The Sharkoon Drakonia II is a gaming mouse designed to work with the right hand, and to adapt perfectly to palm-type grips, without forgetting the claw and tip type, where it also gives good results. This makes it a fairly large mouse with measurements of 127 x 83 x 42 mm and a weight of 134 grams. It is neither the smallest nor the lightest on the market, but its design is very comfortable in the hand.
The dragon scales cover the top of the mouse in its entirety, which gives it a very aggressive and very gaming look. In addition, it is available in two colors, the one we see in this analysis and another in gray. Sharkoon has placed rough, but not rubberized, grips on each side to prevent the hand and fingers from slipping while playing, which is highly successful.
The finish is entirely in smooth and rough plastic on the edges, with the scales area completely smooth and shiny to give a spectacular touch.
A RGB LED lighting system could not be missing, which includes both the wheel and the brand's logo on the back. Thanks to the software we can adjust it to 16.8 million colors.
At the top of the Sharkoon Drakonia II are the two standard buttons for left and right click, along with a scroll wheel, which when pressed is a button. The last two buttons are for changing the DPI setting, which will scroll between 6 different settings from low to high. In addition, we have a third configurable button for function options and macros.
The two main buttons use OMRON mechanisms certified for 10 million keystrokes, this is a mouse made to last, without a doubt.
We found no less than six buttons on the left side of the mouse, two of which are preprogrammed to go "back" and "advance" in the browser. All of them have a good and differentiated feel, but they are harder than I would like, and they will offer us a multitude of possibilities both when playing and using photo and video editing programs and much more. In this sense it is a mouse very suitable for RPG and RPG games.
On both sides we have two lower fins to support the fingers on each end of the hand, their configuration is more aesthetic than the Drakonia I and they are better placed.
The bottom of the mouse is pretty normal, the manufacturer has placed four Teflon feet to slide on a surface with ease, and the center case is where the weight adjustment system is housed , which comes with five removable 5 weights, 6 grams each. In the center of the bottom is the sensor, in this case it is a PixArt PMW 3360 model, which is capable of working with a sensitivity of up to 15, 000 DPI, with a sampling rate of 250 IPS and an acceleration of 50G. The characteristics of this sensor are completed with an ultrapolling of 1000 Hz and a lifting distance of 2 mm. The sensor is factory set to 600 / 2, 400 / 4, 800 / 7, 200 / 10, 000 / 15, 000, although this can be customized from the software.
We have very substantial improvements in this Sharkoon Drakonia II compared to the Sharkoon Drakonia I, for example, the introduction of an optical sensor instead of a laser, and the possibility of adjusting the weight of the equipment. Very good work of Sharkoon here.
Clearly it is a mouse for use with the right hand, with a slight drop to the right to improve the pressing of the right button and its two large fins to support the thumb and little finger, something that gives great comfort in all three types grip, at least in my personal case.
Sharkoon Drakonia II connects to the PC using a braided USB cable, with a very attractive design and that looks very robust.
Here we leave some images of the mouse with its RGB LED lighting activated. It has a multitude of animation modes, which will be configurable through the software, which we will see later.
Grip and comparison between Sharkoon Drakonia II and Drakonia I
As we already anticipated, in this user experience we will see the differences between the previous version and this one, thus we will determine the evolution of this Sharkoon gaming series.
We will start with the external aspect to identify some differences. The first thing that catches the eye is the configuration of the fins, the brand has opted for two new side elements in the new model, although they are less extensive and has eliminated the lower button. Thanks to this, the support of the fingers is more correct and complete, and we are not going to accidentally press that button, in addition to the right fin it is used in version II, while in I it was practically useless.
Bypassing the aesthetic section, the upper button layout is more accessible and complete in this new Drakonia, with separate buttons instead of the previous switch.
The new version also includes 6 side buttons to add functionality in RPG games (or any one), these buttons have good accessibility, without being excellent because they are many, and a little hard, to the point of needing to hold the mouse to the right to press it. The wheel of the Drakonia II is also more hidden, so be careful when using it not to accidentally press the main buttons.
In general, we can say that the switches of the new model are better, with a better touch and a slightly denser click so that they are not accidentally pressed, so in my opinion it is a leap forward.
Describing a little the feeling of the grip of the Sharkoon Drakonia II, we can say that, despite its size, it is a very versatile mouse, and this is due to the two lateral fins.
For large hands, the palm-type grip is very good, although the fins force us to have the three main fingers on top of the mouse to ensure comfort and good movement. But the tip and claw grip is also made possible by these fins, supporting our thumb and little finger there. The experience in RPG and Shooter games has been first, although the availability of 12 buttons is more useful for the former.
The lower surface has decreased and weight customization has been added, allowing us to choose the one that best suits us. This makes equipment lighter and more manageable overall.
On the part of the Sharkoon Drakonia I, we highlight its fast click with very cute buttons, which many will like and others will not. In this case the right wing does not allow the support of the little finger, so its ideal grip is palm, with good handling with the tip and with some other difficulty for the claw type grip. We notice a less versatile mouse and much heavier in movements, with its 150 grams of weight.
Another very important thing to keep in mind is that this version has an Avago ADNS-9500 laser sensor, and we already know that adaptability is not its strong point for a gaming mouse.
In my case at least, I see a substantial evolution in this new Sharkoon Drakonia II, better grip, faster, optical sensor, and less sensitive clicks. One thing we do miss is the rubber sides, which the Drakonia I does have, and a somewhat more prominent wheel for better use. Based on this, everyone who adapts this opinion and description towards their preferences for grip and touch.
Sensitivity tests
It is time to test this optical sensor and see if its performance is as expected. We will review acceleration, skipping, tracking and surface performance in our tests.
- Variance of movement: The procedure consists of putting the mouse in an enclosure of about 4 cm, then we move it from one side to the other and at different speeds. In this way the line that we are painting in Paint will take a measure, if the lines vary in length, it will mean that it has acceleration, otherwise they will not have it. As expected, Paint has determined that there is no acceleration in this mouse, the lines drawn are practically identical and at different speeds. Pixel Skipping: We have also not experienced strange jumps or pointer jerks, both at high and low speeds. The resolution of this Pixart sensor provide perfect Tracking accuracy: we tested its use in high speed games with fast sweeps and take-off / landing maneuvers. The result is correct, the pointer has not jumped and has continued with the intuited movement. Performance on surfaces: we must emphasize in this regard that the sensor captures movement with the equipment quite off the ground. It has worked well on all kinds of surfaces, shiny as metal, glass and of course wood and mats.
Sharkoon Drakonia II Software
The software is easy to install and use. There are three main tabs for configuration and five customizable profiles, along with a factory default profile. The main control tab is for customizing what each button does. Each number shows you which button you are changing. To change a button, click the text of the current button, and a menu will appear with many options ranging from clicking to the media buttons and copying / pasting. If you don't like any of these options, you can link a specific key, like the "R" key to reload or assign a macro.
Right next to the button configuration we have different parameters for mouse behavior: pointer acceleration, scroll speed and double click. In this case we do not have an option for movement assistance, so the performance is what the sensor gives, without the help of software.
In the next tab, we will find the DPI settings for the six profiles that can be loaded. The color control tab is for changing the color of the lighting system, how intense the lighting is and how fast it changes. When you have finished choosing all your settings, you can save your settings in one of the five profiles, and finally apply the changes with the options in the lower area.
Final words and conclusion about Sharkoon Drakonia II
For us, this Sharkoon Drakonia II is a necessary evolution of the old Drakonia, with a renewed appearance and, if possible, even more aggressive than the previous one, and with a spectacular lighting section that fits in with the team's aesthetics.
This mouse is highly recommended for use in RGP and RPG games, where the number of controls is large and we need a comfortable and versatile grip. The ideal posture is that of a palm and claw grip, but thanks to the external fins it is also comfortable in the tip grip.
The Pixart PMW 3360 optical sensor was also very necessary after the experience with the laser, and it is a very affordable gaming mouse with very good features, without any acceleration and without the need for software assistance.

We also have 12 buttons that can be programmed easily through its software, easy to use and very complete. The feel of these buttons is improved compared to the previous version with a slight increase in their hardness and a side panel to add extra functions in our games. In our experience, these buttons are somewhat hard and the wheel is too hidden between the buttons, but with several hours of use, the experience improves.
We have this Sharkoon Drakonia II available in the market for a price of 40 euros, a very restrained figure for a high-performance team, and a unique design. We highlight a quality finish, with good plastics and the possibility of setting its weight. For our part, a highly recommended product for RPG players
