Sharp has created this monitor using its IGZO technology, which offers 800 nits of brightness for HDR content. Sharp's previous 8K 120Hz displays required eight DisplayPort 1.2 cables to function, although today's DisplayPort 1.4 cables would allow the company to reduce its cable needs to four, or less, if they choose to use DisplayPort's Display Stream Compression 1.2 features. 1.4. Multi-cable displays aren't very easy to use, making 8K 120Hz monitors best suited for professional use cases right now.
Sharp also unveils a prototype All-in-One desktop PC with one of these 8K 120Hz displays, revealing a Mac Pro-like device with insane single-screen resolution along with HDR capabilities. In this case, the All-In-One nature of this system helps reduce cable clutter, as screen connections to the PC are made internally.
At the moment, we do not know when they will be commercialized or at what price they will do so.
