Lenovo presented at the IFA in Berlin a new laptop called ThinkPad X1 Extreme. This is a 15-inch laptop designed to go head-to-head with the Dell XPS 15 or Apple's MacBook Pro, and it does so by being lighter than both. Weighing 3.75 pounds (1.70 kilograms), Lenovo is betting on a powerful laptop, including up to an 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor (Coffee Lake), up to 64 GB of DDR4 RAM and up to 2 TB of PCIe storage SSD.

ThinkPad X1 Extreme will face the Dell XPS 15 and Apple's MacBook Pro

We will have multiple models of this ThinkPad, and the most outstanding options are those that come with a 15.6-inch FHD IPS screen or a 4K IPS screen with HDR and Dolby Vision support. They comment that a ThinkPad X1 Extreme with an Intel Core i9 processor will also be available in December.

Lenovo includes Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (the MaxQ version), so it should be able to run many modern games, although the FHD display version is probably the best option to combine it. Nvidia's discrete graphics will also help with photo editing, video processing, and even VR gaming. Lenovo also uses dual fans for cooling, to keep the ThinkPad X1 Extreme from getting too hot.

The chassis is built with carbon fiber, which also helps keep it lighter than its main 15-inch competitors and slimmer. Lenovo also uses the usual ThinkPad keyboard for fans of the mouse pointer and button combination.

We also have a fingerprint reader on the side of the keyboard and a Windows Hello camera that can be covered with the ThinkShutter cover.

Unlike Apple, Lenovo includes two USB 3.1 ports (one for power), two compatible ThunderBolt 3 USB ports, an SD reader, and an HDMI 2.0 port. Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Extreme will be available in September at a price of $ 1, 859.99.
