Shuttle Inc., one of the leading developers and manufacturers of compact PC solutions, such as the world-renowned XPC barebones mini PCs, now also offers robust ARM-based Android devices.

The DSA2LS features a 1 GHz dual core Freescale i.MX 6DualLite (i.MX6DL) processor and 1 GB of DDR3 RAM. A 4 GB flash memory is already integrated for applications, multimedia and operating system, which can be expanded up to 64 GB with an SDHC card reader protected against theft of memory cards. Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) is pre-installed and ready for new versions thanks to an integrated update function (both online and offline).

Its sturdy sheet steel housing measures 14.2 x 19 x 3.5 cm (D x W x H) and has an internal power supply. Unlike the simple HDMI pens with Android, the strength of the DSA2LS is its robustness and its many connections. Between the front and rear are HDMI, VGA, 4x USB 2.0, Line-OUT, RS-232 and RJ45 ports. For wireless data transfer, a 150 Mbit / s wireless LAN is available.

The two monitor outputs are individually suitable for 1080p displays, oriented horizontally or vertically. If both connections are used at the same time, it is automatically switched to 720p resolution. Powered by two ARM Cortex-A9 cores, the graphics unit of the multimedia processor enables expanded 3D and 2D rendering, as well as smooth playback of Full HD video.

"This solution is ideal, p. eg as a trusted media player for continuous low-power operation, ”says Tom Seiffert, head of marketing and PR at Shuttle Computer Handels GmbH. “Make ideas that no one had come true or find solutions for everyday situations: thanks to Google's free development environment, anyone can easily become an Android app developer.”

Both the serial port and the WOL wired network port make the DSA2LS a versatile platform for individual solutions in the field of dynamic digital advertising (POS), POS, automation, monitoring and also thin clients / remote access. Whether you want to install it flat, vertical or overhead, with the attached VESA mount and its many threaded holes in the housing, it can be mounted in every place imaginable. In order to keep the installation location in order, the power supply is already integrated into the housing. If used in a difficult-to-reach location, a continuous ignition switch can be activated, which starts the device as soon as it is connected to the mains.

The DSA2LS comes without any fan and therefore does not produce noise during operation. As a side effect, regular maintenance is eliminated as the device contains no mechanical parts. The ambient temperature range at which the device can operate is between 0 ° C and 45 ° C, while the power consumption is 4.2 - 6.3 watts on average.

The non-binding price recommended by Shuttle for the DSA2LS is about 158 euros (VAT included). The device featured in this press release is now for sale.
