Silverstone announces the first Krypton series heatsink called KR01. This is a specific heatsink for AMD CPUs, including compatibility with socket AM4 and previous generations AM3 / AM2 / FM2 / FM1.

Silverstone debuts the Krypton series with the KR01 heatsink

The heatsink is fixed using the default AMD mounting mechanism, so the wider mounting hole of the AM4 does not affect its compatibility.

This Silverstone heatsink model is a high performance alternative to stock AMD coolers, adding two 6mm heatpipes for better cooling. The locking mechanism is exactly the same as the reference AMD coolers, which is of the lock type. Its 80mm fan uses double bearing and is a PWM model, so you can adjust the speed based on the thermal load. The actual cooling capacity is up to 95W, so it would not be so advisable to use it with a Ryzen 7 2700X.

The heatsink is 107mm wide and 82mm deep. With the fan, it's only 54mm tall, so it can fit inside most low-profile chassis. The fan operates at a speed between 800 and 3000 RPM, and reaches 33dBA producing an air flow of up to 34.33 CFM.

The Silverstone Krypton KR01 series refrigerator is now available for just 13.90 euros. A fairly low cost for those lower mid-range Ryzen processors below 95 W TDP. This can be an interesting option to replace the default heatsink.
