Silverstone SUGO SG12: Unboxing and exterior

Silverstone gives us a product-level presentation with a full-color box. On the cover we find an image of the tower and its most important characteristics, silk-screened on its different sides.

Once we opened the box we found two pieces of polystyrene inside that traps the tower, the manual and all the hardware. The box is the size of a cube with the measures of 266 x 210 x 407 mm (Length x Width x Height) and a weight of 5 kg. It is currently available in a unique design with black color and a blue touch on its clamp for transport.

Where we are going to stop first is in the brushed aluminum front in black, in it we find a 5.25 ″ bay to install any optical drive, card reader, rehobus or a hard drive rack system. In the central area we have a handle to improve transport, between the front connections we come across: on / off button, reset, two LEDs, two USB 3.0 connections and the audio input / output.

Both sides are very similar, in both cases they incorporate air vents to improve cooling. Little else we can highlight.

Top view of the box.

In the rear area we see several grids to improve ventilation, the hole for the power supply, area for the back plate and 4 expansion slots.

And finally, on the ground we find a good fixing system for any surface, obviously we recommend installing the tower on a table to always have it in view.

Silverstone SUGO SG12: Interior and Assembly

The interior is made of premium quality steel and is not painted inside. We do not see this as a problem since the box does not have any windows and does not affect the performance of the chassis. The box is compatible with Micro-ATX and ITX format motherboards and heatsinks with a height of 8.2 cm .

Regarding cooling, we have a 120 mm fan focusing on the hard disk booth and another two 80 mm fans in the main structure of the tower. These are focused on the exit of hot air from inside the tower, but we must acquire it separately.

We have a small hard drive booth to install up to three 3.5 ″ drives. Its installation is simple, but it requires us to use tools. Already going up a little more to the upper area we find a hole to install two 2.5 ″ ssd disks… and below we have the hole to install the dvd recorder.

As we have previously commented, the box has 4 expansion slots to connect graphics cards, sound cards, TV tuners, etc…

In it we can install any power supply on the market, as a detail, it incorporates four rubbers to avoid vibrations. The box allows us to organize the wiring perfectly, as you can see, the guides are of good quality and are full of areas to pass the cables.

WE RECOMMEND You Corsair Void Elite Surround Review in Spanish (full analysis)

To test the performance we have opted for the installation of a mid-range equipment with a mATX motherboard, an APU 7650K processor and a low profile heatsink. As you can see everything is very compact and collected.

Final words and conclusion

In 2005 Silverstone set the trend for compact equipment with the first revision of the Sugo SG12. A box capable of accepting any high-end graphics card, microatx motherboards and low profile heatsinks with just 22 liters. In this new version, aesthetics, cooling and USB 3.0 connections have been improved.

The compatibilities are quite wide, since it allows us to install 8.2 cm high heatsinks, 36 cm graphics cards and ATX format power supplies. In our case we have installed an AMD 7650K APU and its HTPC mission has been excellent.

Although its cooling is very effective, we think that the incorporation of two 120mm or 140mm fans would further improve air flow. We can hardly put any but more.

It is currently found in online stores for a price of 95 euros, possibly not the cheapest box but nothing more than its brushed aluminum front and all its special features for gamers worth it.
