Silverstone Sugo SG13 unboxing and exterior

Silverstone presents the product in a medium-sized, robust and fairly simple box. We can see the silk screen on the cabinet and the exact model name. Once we open it we find the following content:

  • Silverstone SUGO SG13B box Instruction manual Screws and flanges.

The Silverstone SG13B is a box of reduced dimensions, measures 205 x 470 x 480 cm and a weight of 6.7kg, compatible with ITX motherboards, 26 cm long graphics card, power supplies with a depth of 15 cm and 6.1 cm high heatsinks. So we must be very careful when choosing the components that will accompany it.

There are two versions: the basic one with a smooth front panel (SG13) and the one we are analyzing with a front panel with a bee panel (SG13B), which initially improves the cooling, since it will depend on our taste. We also find two USB 3.0 connections, audio input and output and the brand logo on the bottom left. We have the power button on the roof of the tower, in the right corner, perfectly accessible.

Both sides are perforated to improve air flow, but we have to tell you that it only allows us to install a fan on the front, for simple equipment it will be enough since that of the heatsink will help push the hot air out, but the same we are right.

At the back we have 4 screws to fix the case, a hole for the ATX or SFX power supply, two PCI slots and the back plate.

To conclude the exterior of the box in general lines is very good, I leave you a small gallery of how it looks.

Silverstone Sugo SG13 Interior

Once we remove the casing from the chassis we find an internal structure painted completely in black and made of solid steel. Note that it allows us to install a slim optical drive (recorder) in the upper area and that the power supply is mounted on top of the motherboard, so I recommend a low profile heatsink. For example, the Noctua NH-L9X65 or a simple radiator liquid cooling kit would be great for the cause.

As standard, it does not include a fan, but it does allow us to install a 120mm fan on the front, which I recommend to try not to grab the components, especially if we are going to insert an i5 or i7 processor plus a high-end graphics card. If it is for an HTPC we can choose a completely passive system.

Above storage allows us to install a 3.5 ″ or two 2.5 ″ drive next to the power supply and a 2.5 ″ SSD enabled zone. That is, because it is compact, we will not lose storage capacity.

The assembly of the equipment we must carry out with enough criteria and take into account the components chosen to avoid tedious assembly. I recommend mounting the processor, heatsink and ram first out of the box and inserting everything in the same block. Then mount the hard drives and then the power supply. As a last one, I always recommend the graphics card because being in the left area of the box hinders us a lot when working, and that is simply to click on the PCI connection and the power cables.

Final words and conclusion

The Silverstone SG13 is a small box, compatible with low profile heatsinks or 120mm AIO liquid cooling, mini ITX motherboards, graphics cards up to 26cm and both SFX and ATX power supplies.

Silverstone allows us to choose between two versions: the simple SG13 or the SG13B, which is the one we have analyzed in this review. The difference is its front that the first one is completely smooth in plastic that emits brushed aluminum or the B version with a bee panel to improve the cooling. We are still talking about refrigeration, as it does not include a fan and we did not like that. It allows us to install only one 120 mm on the front.

Storage allows us to install a slim optical drive, three 2.5 ″ hard drives (SSD or mechanical) or optionally one 2.5 ″ and another 3.5 ″. This small box allows us versatility.

In short, if you are looking for a good, nice and cheap mini ITX box with an elegant design and that allows you the possibility of adding high-end components, without a doubt, the Silverstone SG13 should be among your favorites. It is currently in store for a price of 50 euros, which makes it one of the best quality / price products on the market.
