Sony announces ssd memories ideal for 4k ultra hd video streams
Table of contents:
There are many high-quality SSDs on the market, but very few are as professional as Sony's newer models.
By the time you're working with 4K Ultra HD video content, classic hard drives are a long way from coping with the transfer speed required for editing tasks.

While there are a few tricks you can fall back on, such as modifying hard drive settings in RAID 0, the simplest alternative involves a small investment in SSD memory. But even with these ultrafast storage media there is a wear problem. Over time, you run the risk of losing information during or after making a transfer.
For this reason, 4K video creators and editors do not have the luxury of losing data. At the same time, they need the perfect combination of extreme performance and high durability. For these situations, Sony has released a new range of 2.5-inch SSDs with two versions.
These new memories were designed from the beginning to capture video content in Ultra HD format. Also, it won't matter if the SSD was overwritten 500 or 1000 times, as it will provide the same performance as on the first day of use.
Even the SATA connector was improved on these new storage drives in order to improve resistance against multiple connections and disconnections. In theory, you shouldn't have any problems until you've connected and disconnected Sony SSDs about 3000 times.
As we already indicated in the title, the new models are called SV-GS960 and SV-GS480: the first with a capacity of 960GB and a price of $ 539, while the second brings a capacity of 480GB and a price of $ 287.
Regarding the degrees of resistance to multiple writes, the Japanese company said that the 960GB model should easily handle writing of more than 2400TB, while the 460GB model about 1200TB.
In practical terms, this means that you will be able to fill new SSDs about 5 times a week for 10 years without risking failure.
