Ssd with capacity greater than 10tb
The new SSDs with a capacity of at least 10TB of storage should hit the market in 2016. The advancement will be possible thanks to 3D NAND technology , which is capable of storing more data in the same space using multiple layers of chips and was announced on Friday March 27 by Intel and Micron.
According to the manufacturers, the SSDs that the technology uses, which will be the size of a memory card, will have a capacity of up to 3.5 TB, while the largest disks of up to 2.5 inches can reach more than 10 TB. The threshold for small NAND SSDs today is approximately 256 GB.
"Micron's collaboration with Intel created an industry-leading solid state storage technology that offers unmatched high density, performance and efficiency today, " says Micron Technology Solutions Vice President of Technology and Memory, Brian Shirley. “This 3D NAND technology has the potential to generate significant changes in the market. The extent of the impact flash memory has had so far - from smartphones to supercomputers are optimized.
In addition to increasing capacity, 3D NAND also offers low cost per GB, better reading and better writing performance, lower power consumption and higher latency and resistance compared to previous models.
The expectation is that the new SSD models with the technology will hit the market in 2016. Intel and Micron do not yet report the exact size of the disks to be sold, but 256 and 384 GB versions are already being analyzed by the partners..
