Tsmc will invest 20,000 million dollars to manufacture 3nm chips

TSMC to complete 3nm plant in 2022

Now, the company announced the future construction of a 3nm chip manufacturing plant in southern Taiwan. It will be an incredibly advanced technology and difficult to realize, but TSMC is willing to spend all the money to achieve it.

Morris Chang, founder of TSMC, said the following:

“When we have all the necessary capacity, we will probably have spent more than 15, 000 million dollars. This is only a conservative estimate. Perhaps we will reach 20, 000 million dollars ”.

Despite all this money invested, TSMC will not go bankrupt, as the company is currently valued at a whopping $ 190 billion.

TSMC's new 3nm plant will be ready in 2022. And surely future Apple smartphones and tablets will sport chips based on TSMC's 3nm node after that year.

3nm technology will lead to a triple reduction in semiconductor size, resulting in faster processors with lower power consumption.
