Twitter doubles the number of characters to 280

Twitter takes time from each fall. The blue bird social network takes time with notable decreases in income. And the number of users does not grow either. So for a while they have been introducing numerous new features. Hoping to relive the success of the social network. Although they don't always work.

Twitter doubles the number of characters to 280

One of the new features recently announced by Twitter is the Tweetstorm. It may be successful, but it will surely be overshadowed by the new measure. The number of characters in messages is extended. It goes from 140 to 280. This change is already being tested by a group of users. So once the test is over it should be available to all users.

Longer length in messages

Twitter has always stood out for being a social network where you have to be very concise. By having only 140 characters. This change gives users more possibilities to extend their text a little more. But, it also represents a change in the essence of the social network. So you have some risk. Since it has become famous for its short and direct news.

There are already users who can enjoy the 280 characters. Among them Jack Dorsey, one of the founders of the social network. Nothing has been mentioned about the arrival of this new feature to all users. In fact we don't know how long the testing process will take.

This is a small change, but a big move for us. 140 was an arbitrary choice based on the 160 character SMS limit. Proud of how thoughtful the team has been in solving a real problem people have when trying to tweet. And at the same time maintaining our brevity, speed, and essence!
