Mysterious amd zen processor beats core i7
Table of contents:
A mysterious processor based on the AMD Zen architecture has been cast into the Blenchmark.com database to show really high performance and gives reason to hope with AMD's new high-performance microarchitecture. The mysterious processor has slipped into the top 7 with really high performance.
AMD Zen processor surprises in Blender
AMD is going to offer Summit Ridge processors with a maximum of 8 cores and Naples processors for servers with a maximum of 32 cores, we do not know details of the mysterious chip so it could be any configuration. In case of being an 8-core chip its performance is very high but if it is a 16-core chip or more it is already somewhat more mediocre and would not paint too well for AMD Zen.
We recommend our guide to the best processors on the market.
In the test you can see how the mysterious AMD processor places itself several positions above the Core i7 6900k when completing the test in just 69 seconds, the same time it takes an Intel Xeon E5 2680 v2 processor with 10 cores and 20 threads processing. The Intel processor has an operating frequency of 2.8 GHz, quite typical for chips with a large number of cores and intended for servers. For now we can only wait for new data to emerge but if it is an AMD Zen 8-core processor the new AMD microarchitecture offers spectacular performance and without a doubt you can fight with the best of Intel.
If we make a direct comparison with desktop processors, the equivalent to the Intel Xeon E5 2680 v2 would be the Intel Core i7-6950X with the same 10 cores and 20 threads at an operating frequency of 3 GHz making the AMD mystery processor it would have very similar performance. Remember that Summit Ridge will arrive with a maximum of 8 cores, 16 threads and a TDP of only 95W, so it promises a great leap in energy efficiency compared to current FX, if its performance reaches Intel, only time will tell.
