A new sponsor joins our website, none other than one of the best monitor manufacturers in the world: ViewSonic. Specifically, we have had these days in our laboratory a ViewSonic XG2530 monitor with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 240 Hz frequency and 1 ms response.
Do you want to know more about him? Let's go to the mess and let the party begin!
ViewSonic XG2530 technical specifications
Many of you will wonder what resolution you have or what is the best. The standard is the 1920 × 1080 also known as FULL HD, then we move on to the 2K screens: 2560 × 1440 and the last ones as the 4K 3840 x 2160.
This time we stayed in the most purchased resolution to date: Full HD. Where any user can enjoy high definition and in this case take advantage of all the gamer features of this monitor.
Unboxing and design
The ViewSonic XG2530 arrives in a large box and with a top of the range presentation. On the cover is an image of the monitor seen from above and in large letters the model itself. While in the back we have more information about its main technical characteristics.
Once we open the box we find the following inside:
- ViewSonic XG2530 monitor. Power cord. Support CD. Warranty card. HDMI cable. Stand removed.
The ViewSonic XG2530 is a high-end monitor for its 24.5-inch size and 1920 x 1080 resolution. Designed exclusively for the most demanding and competitive players, incorporating a refresh rate of 240 Hz.
We come across physical dimensions with a 566 x 433.9 x 239.2 base and a weight of 6.78 kg. While if you want to use a VESA 100 x 100 bracket on an articulating arm, its dimensions would be 566 x 343.2 x 51.1 mm.
Speaking of more technical characteristics, it is time to comment that it incorporates a TN panel with a maximum brightness of 400 cd / m and a static contrast ratio of 1000: 1.
TN panels have many strengths, but the weakest are in viewing angles and have less vivid colors than an IPS panel. Although the angles are not its most interesting point, it defends itself very well to have this panel. Although if you have the possibility that they leave you a professional calibrator, try to do a re-calibration that will greatly improve your experience.
Many monitors have passed through our hands and the ViewSonic XG2530 has a great aesthetic and that you will fall in love with when you see it. Its edges are quite thin (although it can be improved) and its base offers many angles and positions.
In In the central area we find the OSD management panel and what will we see in more detail in its section?
Among its rear connections we have two HDMI connections: version 1.4A and 2.0, a DisplayPort 1.2 and a 3.5mm Mini-Jack audio output. As expected we have USB 3rd connections, a plug for power and a Kensington lock.
As we have already seen in other models, ViewSonic has chosen to leave the power supply inside. Although I would have liked to see an external one because in this way we avoid overheating the panel and all the internal PCB.
We will briefly explain what AMD Free-Sync technology consists of: Its operation is quite simple since it allows scenes to be faster, smoother and more pleasant when we are playing.
Really what AMD Free-Sync allows is to synchronize the refresh rate of the screen with the AMD graphics card of your computer, eliminating the tearing effect, minimizing jerks and input delay.
All this that we are telling you is Marketing pure and simple? No, in our test bench and several external people have been able to verify that the sensation of the game and the fluidity is superior. It is true that the Nvidia process is much more refined, but the sensations are really good on the first contact.
I would also like to highlight the possibilities offered by Game Mode HotKey technology. From the factory it presents five profiles that allow adjusting to different common usage scenarios: RTS, Gamer, ColorX, FPS and MOBA. A customization that takes away the hiccups.
What is ColorX? Basically it offers exclusive viewing and optimal speeds ideal for games like Overwatch. That is, the best optimization if you want to become one of the best players (not all hardware does), but it does help to be a little better than the rest.
OSD menu
Its OSD menu is quite comfortable and very intuitive. Unlike other monitors we have tried… we find it very comfortable to do it. Adjustment of brightness, colors, profiles, outputs… One pass!
Experience and conclusion about ViewSonic XG2530
The ViewSonic XG2530 is an ideal monitor for those gamers looking to squeeze both their gaming and gaming experience and their next-generation computer. The ingredients that make it up are: TN panel, 1 ms response time , 240 Hz refresh rate and a sober aesthetic but one that you will fall in love with at first sight.
In our test bench we have used the monitor in three different environments:
- Daily use: If you do not need to rotate the monitor or move it constantly, it is more than enough. Although where it falters the most is in graphic design. Although the colors are good to be a TN panel, the same is not 100% faithful as an IPS panel can be. For the rest of the basic tasks: navigation and office automation are perfectly carried out. Multimedia: It behaves very well and being 1920 x 1080 it moves perfectly with current movies / series or content on YouTube. It will be a great friend! Gaming on PC: This is where you notice the difference from traditional monitors or with TN panel. Playing games like Counter Strike Global Offensive gives us a great advantage over rivals, who has enjoyed shooter game knows what we are talking about.
Another great advantage offered by this monitor is the incorporation of a USB 3.0 HUB and the possibility of using AMD FreeSync technology to further enhance the gaming experience. For example, with an AMD RX 580 graphics card we could take advantage of this technology or also get the most out of it with a Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB graphics card.
We recommend reading the best PC monitors on the market
We cannot forget that it incorporates an excellent base. It allows us to rotate the monitor without any difficulties! In addition to adjusting both height and position fluidly and very quickly.
The current price in online stores is 583 euros, we know… it is not within the reach of all budgets. Although taking into account the competition, they offer monitors for 620 euros, it seems to us a more than significant saving to acquire a better graphics card or any other component.
