Whatsapp pay will launch in more countries this year

Facebook is looking for ways to monetize its most popular messaging app, WhatsApp. Having decided not to introduce ads, which were expected to become a reality this year, the company is looking for new ways to achieve this. It seems that one of the ways they are going to achieve this is by expanding the payment service they have integrated into the app.

This service currently works in a few countries, such as India. The social network seeks that in 2020 it will expand to new markets, in order to obtain more income.

Worldwide launch

WhatsApp Pay will allow payments between friends and family, using the messaging application, in addition to transactions between businesses. The social network would take a small percentage in each operation carried out in this service. So that they will be able to obtain income with the use of it and thus have a way to monetize the application.

In the case of India, a full deployment is expected this year. This would allow the firm's payment service to have some 400 million users in total. In addition, with the global launch already as a goal, they could have a huge number of users around the world, thus monetizing the application.

For now there are no dates for the worldwide launch of WhatsApp Pay. It is something that is expected to be rolled out these months, but we will have to wait for Facebook to reveal more about these plans. What is clear is that they seek to earn income at all costs from this application.
