We really wanted to present you the review of the box In Win 509 in its limited version "ROG" (Republic Of Gamer) of Asus. Its characteristics are impressive, but we anticipate that it is a Tempered Glass case, it combines black and red and allows you to assemble the best hardware on the market. Don't miss our review!

First of all we thank In Win for leaving us the In Win 509 for analysis.

In Win 509 technical characteristics

Unboxing and design

The In Win 509 comes in a large cardboard box that features a very clean design with the brand's logo and the cardboard's own color.

We open the box and find the chassis very well protected by a bag and large pieces of cork that will prevent its movement during transport. The first thing that strikes us is that it presents a horizontal packaging instead of vertical as it has been the usual. This is due to offering greater protection to your tempered glass side against the shocks it may receive. Once again the brand has put a lot of care so that the product reaches the least of the end user in the best possible conditions.

In addition to the chassis itself we find a good accessory kit:

  • User manual Plastic cable ties USB 3.0 to USB 2.0 header adapter 4-pin RGB fans connector adapter to SATA power 4 anti-vibration rubbers Support for GPU Screw set

Once seen the packaging and everything it contains, it is time to look at the In Win 509 chassis. We are in front of a tower that reaches dimensions of 527 x 245 x 578 mm and weighs 14 kg, very considerable figures that They do not make it the most transportable chassis on the market.

Its front has a very clean design in which the only thing to highlight is the presence of tempered glass and an RGB LED lighting system formed by the brand's logo and which is controlled from the motherboard itself as long as it has a 4 pins for this purpose.

It is the upper area that contains all the ports and connections, we find 4 USB 3.0 ports, 3.5 mm connectors for audio and micro and a 5.25 ″ bay that will serve to install an optical drive or a fan controller for example. We appreciate that the 5.25 ″ bay is maintained, something that is increasingly rare and the presence of the four high-speed USB ports when there are usually two.

Now we look at the side of the In Win 509 and we see that the main protagonist is a tinted tempered glass window that looks really good. An excellent option to see the interior of the equipment that will become increasingly difficult without components with RGB LED lighting. We also highlight the ROG (Republic of Gamer) logo and some details in red as a result of the brand's collaboration with Asus.

The secondary side has several holes to improve the ventilation of the equipment, something that we will delve into later.

Already at the rear of the chassis we find 8 slot covers, the location of the power supply at the bottom and space for a 120 mm or 140 mm fan.

Finally on the lower side we find a large removable dust filter to facilitate cleaning and space to install another 120mm or 140mm fan to improve the air flow of the chassis. We also see four legs on which to place rubber feet on which the chassis will rest so as not to damage the support surface.

Inner zone

It is time to look inside the In Win 509, for this we only have to remove the side covers. The glass window we have 4 removable screws, as we see in the photograph.

Once the chassis is open we see the space to install a motherboard with format up to E-ATX so we will have no problems designing a very high-end equipment. It also offers us the possibility of installing a CPU heatsink up to 188 mm, graphics cards up to 370 mm and power supplies with a maximum depth of 230 mm.

In the front part we appreciate a quite atypical design, the In Win 509 offers us space for the installation of two 360 mm radiators, one of them in the front cover itself and the other in the red sheet, it is quite clear that it is a chassis quite focused on liquid cooling.

On the front we can also accommodate the 3.5 / 2.5-inch three-bay cage for hard drives and offers us the possibility of accommodating up to 4 drives or fans. In the rear area of the chassis we can also place two 3.5 / 2.5-inch units in removable trays.

The In Win 509 has three lower EZ-Swap trays, this means that we can remove them hot and the connectors are ready for it. The cables of these trays can be easily hidden under the motherboard since it leaves us a lot of space for managing the system wiring.

Regarding the internal wiring of the chassis we see two USB 3.0 headers, an audio header, the two-pin connectors for buttons and disk LEDs and a last 4-pin header for the RGB lighting of the front logo. In addition to the above we have to add the three 3 SATA data connectors for the EZ-Swap bays and one for power.

Assembly and experience

As usual we have assembled a high performance team. In our case, an i7-7700k with an Asus Maximus IX Formula motherboard, 32GB of DDR4 memory, a GTX 1080, 1000w power supply and a single tower heatsink.

It is true that the assembly has cost us a little more than usual, since as standard we have a lot of internal wiring and to organize it you have to have a little more patience than usual. The use of black tinted tempered glass is spectacular, and the ROG red accents go great with the Asus Maximus IX Formula.

WE RECOMMEND YOU In Win 303 Review (Analysis in Spanish)

I leave you a vision of the team with the window closed. If we had mounted a white LED strip, the interior of the entire team would surely gain much more importance.

In the interior image we can see the illuminated front. While in the next one, the representation of when it is on next to us, as you see it looks perfect.

Final words and conclusion about In Win 509

The In Win 509 ROG Edition we really liked both its concept and its high-performance design. We believe that it is one of the most beautiful boxes on the market and that its tempered glass tinted in black is spectacular.

It allows us to install motherboards with eATX format, high-performance graphics cards such as the GTX 1080, liquid cooling (up to a triple radiator) on the front or a conventional heatsink, and a fact to consider that it is compatible with power supplies from up to 23 cm in length.

The assembly must be put a little patience, since it comes with enough cables as standard and we have to route them all behind the box. We must also be very clear if we are going to mount a liquid cooling or a heatsink, since we encounter some obstacles to pass all the tubes.

We recommend reading our PC Gaming configuration.

If you are going to opt for the ROG edition (there are limited units), choose both the Asus motherboard, graphics card and monitor, since you may be left with a brutal configuration. In our case we lack the Strix graphics card , but the finishes are 10. What we did not like is that it does not incorporate a fan, at least we expected a rear one, since we will need at least 3 (one rear and two front).

Its store price ranges from 185 to 200 euros, a more than reasonable price for the quality of the product. Since the high-end boxes, they usually last many generation jumps.
