In the last few weeks, a very curious error has been discovered that has to do with Windows 10 and the performance it offers with 24-core and 48-thread computers. This error was discovered and posted by a user on his randomascii blog when he was doing intensive multitasking with this setting.

Windows 10 has problems with intensive multitasking

The computer with which the tests were performed is a 24-core Intel CPU along with 64GB of RAM, a computer that should have no problems with any modern application, all working in Windows 10.

The problem arose when the user noticed that the system was checked every so often, to such an extent that the mouse pointer did not even move. This caught his attention since in the system administrator the use of the CPU and disk did not reach 50%. With the use of a debugger the challenge of reaching the origin of the problem was proposed.

Analyzing the data of all the processes of the system, he found a serious error that had to do with the process closure by the system.

In Windows 10, when opening processes in the system, it can work perfectly in a multi-threaded configuration, but when processes are closed, all that information passes through a single thread. To summarize, when processes are opened the system uses multi-threaded, but when they are closed the system works as if it were single-threaded.

So there we have the problem, in intensive multitasking where processes open and close faster than normal, Windows 10 has problems managing process closes and then the inevitable happens, it is ticked until all queued tasks are finished.

This problem would only be occurring in Windows 10 and not in other Microsoft operating systems. Although the Redmond company has yet to comment, hopefully this will end up patching with an update. We will keep you informed.
