Xiaomi has announced on Chinese social networks and forums the new update of its Mi Notebook Pro and Mi Gaming Laptop, in this case being its second generation.
New Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop 2 and Mi Notebook Pro 2
We start by talking about the Mi Notebook Pro 2, also called Mi Notebook Pro GTX, a computer designed for professional use with a fine design. The key to the upgrade is in the graphics card, moving from the NVIDIA Geforce MX150 (similar to the GT 1030) to the Geforce GTX 1050 Max-Q with 4GB of VRAM, with an approximate 70% performance improvement.
Another improvement is in the cooling and the power of the charger, fully expected to take on the heat and additional energy expenditure of the GTX 1050. There are no other notable improvements, and the 8th Intel Core i5 8250U and i7 8550U processors are maintained. generation with 4 cores and 8 threads.
We go to the Mi Gaming Laptop 2, which in this case sees the radical change in the processor, since it goes from the Intel Core i7 7700HQ with 4 cores and 8 threads to a maximum of 3.80GHz, to the new i7 8750H with 6 cores and 12 threads at a maximum of 4.10GHz. There will also be cheaper versions with 4-core and 8-thread processors.
With the i7 8750H, those who will most notice the improvement will be those who perform tasks such as video editing, while in most games the improvement will come from the increase in turbo frequency rather than from the increased number of cores, unless streaming is performed, where, again, you will notice much higher performance.
Unlike the Mi Notebook Pro 2, the graphics card remains here, with the possibility of choosing the GTX 1050 Ti or GTX 1060 6GB. Minor improvements include higher RAM frequency, better WiFi connectivity, etc. On both laptops, the 15.6 ″ IPS displays are maintained with 72% NTSC coverage.
Pricing and availability
Regarding the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro 2, the base version will be sold for the change with Intel Core i5 8250U (4 cores, 8 threads), 8GB of RAM, GTX 1050 Max-Q and SSD 256GB NVMe at 800 euros to change. The version that incorporates the i7 8550U and 16GB of RAM will cost 960 euros.
The Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop 2 will have a price of 850 euros to change for the version with the i5-8300H (4 cores, 8 threads) and GTX 1050Ti, and the top version with the i7-8750H, 16GB of RAM, GTX 1060 6GB and 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD will cost around 1140 euros.
These launches are for China, so to buy them in Spain it will be necessary to wait for some website like GearBest to list it and make shipments, surely at higher prices than those mentioned here. If Xiaomi launched a global version for sale in Spain, which does not have to happen, it would take several months.
