Many lovers of the Chinese brand asked for it, and the return of the legendary and successful Xiaomi Note saga is present. Today we will analyze the Xiaomi Mi Note 10, with a huge leap in quality and performance compared to the Mi Note 3, it is a terminal that bets on a panel with 5 rear camera sensors, and the renewed Snapdragon 730G to house that main sensor of no less than 108 Mpx. And special attention to its brutal 5260 mAh battery.
An impressive business card for one of its flagships at an official price of 500 euros for this version and 600 euros for the Pro version. The curved screen, abandoned in the Mi 9 and finally recovered, which we also see in Mi 10, the competition does very well in this section. Will it be the most versatile camera on the market and the roundest phone from Xiaomi? We will see soon.
Before continuing, we thank Xiaomi and for having trusted us to give us this terminal for analysis
Xiaomi Mi Note 10 technical characteristics
Unboxing
First of all, we are going to quickly see the Unboxing of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10, which will arrive in a high quality rigid and rigid cardboard box as always, and the typical elongated format with the exact measurements of the terminal. This time the Chinese have used matte black for their presentation along with the model identification in silver.
We take the upper leg and drop the lower leg to the ground to access its contents. In the first instance we will have the phone tightly wrapped in a silky plastic bag, just below a box with accessories and below the connection and charging elements. As usual, everything is extremely compact and portable.
The terminal bundle has the following elements:
- Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Phone Glossy Black Silicone Case 30W Charger USB Type-C - Type-A Cable for Charging and Data SIM Tray Extractor Support & Home Guide Security Information
As we expected, we do not have any type of headphones included, despite the fact that the terminal has a 3.5 mm jack, quite an achievement for its measurements and battery. Also appreciated is the 30W charger included at the factory, it is the least you could do with a mobile for 500 euros. Finally, the cover, which we will see later, has been included, with a very good presence in glossy black although the same durability as the rest.
Glass design and curved screen
This re -released Xiaomi Note saga is loaded with new features, although its main characteristics, which is that of performance in photography, is still its main claim. As for design, the truth is that it is everything we wanted and expected from Xiaomi .
The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 is available with a color palette, we could say that it is classic, and it is also the same for the Note 10 Pro. Specifically we speak of 3 colors, white, black and turquoise green, this time in plain colors without strange reflections and of maximum elegance. The one we have is the version in black, or rather graphite gray, with a discreet, formal style and with little trace of the footprints. It should be said that we do not have protection from water or dust, and it is something that should be requested in a terminal of this price.
The curved side screen also returns, something that greatly favors the measures of the phone with 74.2 mm width, 157.8 mm length and 9.7 mm thickness, including the rear sensor panel. To have a 6.47 ”screen is not bad, but what is most striking is its weight, because" only "is 208 g. We say this because inside we have a 5260 mAh battery, the largest Xiaomi has ever mounted in one of its terminals.
Let's start by doing a detailed analysis of the parts of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 to see its design thoroughly. The first tour is done through the back, which has been used as a glass panel with a shiny finish and this time in plain black. We see a nice curvature towards the sides that allows you to grip the phone very well and comfortably.
In it the only thing we have is the sensor panel composed of 5 cameras in vertical alignment in the upper left corner. The main three use a glass panel that protrudes almost 2 mm from the horizontal plane, with the dual LED flash system next to it. The panel also includes the focus laser sensor, very discreet and only visible in direct light. Just below we have the 4th sensor also slightly out and below the 5th sensor flush with the base. It really is a very finite terminal if it were not for this piece of panel, but it is the price to pay for the huge battery.
Now we turn the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 towards the front to better see its screen, finally using lateral curvature that the Mi 10 and 10 also inherit, thus placing it in the trend of other manufacturers for their flagships but with the detail of being a more terminal economic. Therefore quite smooth 4D curvature is used to the sides, not completely eliminating the edges.
Much less the lower and upper, using a drop type notch of considerable size in the central part for the front camera. This leaves us a useful surface of 87%, having used Gorilla Glass 5 for its protection. Above the sensor only the speaker remains for calls and not for audio, since this mobile only has one of them.
This is how we get to the sides of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10, all of them built in aluminum alloy with high shock resistance and very thin on the sides due to the curvature. They are minimally protruding from the crystals, which makes the grip more secure without a cover.
In the upper area we find only two elements, the noise canceling microphone and a useful infrared sensor for example to use it as a remote control. If we drag to the right on the lock screen, we can access the remote control directly . In the lower area we have the USB-C connector for charging and data, the opening for the speaker this time in the left area next to another microphone, and finally the 3.5mm Jack that surprisingly comes included.
Finishing with the sides, in the right area we have the volume buttons, the lock and power button, as well as the removable tray with Dual SIM capacity but without support for Micro SD memory cards. In the left side area we have absolutely nothing, surely taking the gap for the battery to the limit.
Giving a little review of the case, we have found it a very good choice for this terminal, since it is the same color as the terminal and with a rather shiny finish. It is made of silicone and very well adjusted to the edges, although you already know that this material degrades easily exposed to light. At least it will last us a few months. It also has an extra edge on the camera panel to prevent it from touching the ground.
The sensations in terms of design that this Xiaomi Mi Note 10 leaves us are impeccable, noting a terminal with more premium finishes than for example the previous Mi 9 especially for the curved screen and colors used. Perhaps what most spoils the aesthetics is the camera panel, very noticeable, but we understand that the interior space will already be 100% occupied.
6.47 ”AMOLED screen
Well, now we continue with the screen of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10, which in this case is going to be exactly the same for both the Note 10 and the Pro version, as well as practically most of the elements that we will see in the successive sections.
We have installed a 6.47-inch AMOLED technology screen in 19.5: 9 format that offers a native FHD + resolution, which has been 2340x1080p. This generates a density of 398 dpi which is quite good although not at the level of the most expensive flagships of the competition. Its refresh rate is 60 Hz, therefore maintaining the standard in a terminal like this, and leaving 90 Hz for the Mi 10 as normal with superior hardware.
This display is very similar in color rendering to that of previous models such as the Mi 9 T Pro, although slightly more neutral in whites. However, it is something that can always be modified from the configuration menu, something very useful from MIUI. It offers us a maximum brightness of 430 nits typical with support for HDR10 + with peaks of up to 600 nits. Contrast rises to 400, 000: 1 with color coverage and calibration on DCI-P3, and TÜV Rheinland certification for blue light.
It is a screen that looks really good, although its main novelty in terms of representation is its lateral curvature. We already say that it is similar to the previous ones in representation of colors, in fact its basic benefits are the same as those used in other models of the Chinese manufacturer. We obviously have the Alvays-On Display function when the screen is locked. The viewing angles are also very well achieved.
In general we can say that it is a very good screen that meets the color requirements, being above direct rivals such as the realme X2 Pro, although those 90 Hz refresh that the aforementioned or the OnePlus 7t recently tested by us are missing.
Sound system
The sound system of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 is good, but it is not for example at the terminal level as the OnePlus 7t itself. And it is that a single speaker has been used at the bottom without any typical audio technology such as Dolby Atmos.
The advantage once again compared to its rivals is that the 3.5mm Jack has been included so that we can use all kinds of headphones without having to have a USB-C. In fact we are surprised by this aspect, since it is a connector that takes up a lot of space on the PCB and always gets in the way of high-volume batteries, as is the case.
Regarding the sound quality, since it is more or less standard, it does not disappoint at all in audio detail and clarity of the same, being heard very well both in videos and music. Although we did expect a higher volume, style the Mi 9T, which sounds much more and without lowering the quality. But perhaps what is most missing is a stereo sound in a terminal of this price.
Security systems
As for security systems, Xiaomi has been doing a sensational job on this new generation of terminals since the beginning of 2019. In addition, the software and layer updates have been noticed a lot in speed.
First of all we have a fingerprint sensor located on the screen, although this time it is located higher than previous models and in my case it has required a short adaptation period, highly accustomed to others located lower. This new relocation means that with the same hand we can touch the unlock button and press the sensor, something that is not possible in other terminals. We do not know if the sensor used is the same, but its speed is very high and its hit rate also, even with quite irregular positioning it shows its solvency.
On the part of facial unlocking we also have our own system with the same or even higher speed than the fingerprint system and it is something that has greatly improved in Xiaomi. The fact of having a camera without a Pop-Up system and high resolution makes its hit rate almost perfect even in very difficult light situations. Recognition is practically instantaneous, and does not unblock if we have our eyes closed, although with only one open it does detect our face.
They are outstanding systems in both cases, if we wanted an improvement from Xiaomi in their flagships in this regard, they have achieved it. Also with the update from MIUI 10 to MIUI 11 the speed is increased considerably in previous models, something very positive.
Hardware and performance
Perhaps it is in this section where we expected a bit more TOP hardware, of course, the outlay on camera sensors was surely the main reason to make a cut here.
The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 has a Snapdragon 730G processor, an 8-core CPU and update the 730 with 2 Kryo 470 at 2.2 GHz and 6 Kryo 470 at 1.8 GHz. In this sense it is the same as the previous model, obviously with 8 nm architecture and the same support for DirectX, OpenGL technologies, etc. What changes? Well, the GPU mainly, now the Adreno 618 silicon goes up to 825 MHz, while in the previous model it reached 750 MHz. The support for photography has also improved, now supporting 108 Mpx sensors.
The rest of the specifications consist of 6 GB of RAM for the Note 10 and 8 GB for the Note 10 Pro, in both cases of the LPDDR4X type working at 1866 MHz. The CPU is exactly the same in both cases.
What also changes is the storage, being in Note 10 that we analyze 128 GB and 256 GB in the Pro version, in both cases using UFS 2.1 technology instead of 3.0. A disadvantage that we have in both models is that they do not have memory expansion through Micro SD cards, although they are two quite good capacities. If we plan to record a lot in 4K or take photos at 108 Mpx, better opt for the Pro version, since each image occupies about 30 MB.
Next, we leave you with the score obtained in AnTuTu Benchmark 8, the benchmark software par excellence in Android and iOS terminals. We also carried out the corresponding benchmark tests in 3DMark and Geekbench 5 to see the graphics and CPU processing capacity.
We can see that the CPU performance is slightly higher than the Mi 9T, a terminal with Snapdragon 730 just plain, which is perfectly what is expected of an update. We have lacked a better performance of the GPU in 3DMark, since it is an abnormally low score if we consider that it is the same hardware as that of a Xiaomi Mi 9T. However, in several repetitions we have obtained the same. In AnTuTu there are no surprises, with a score slightly higher than the commented model.
Android 10 + MIUI 11
The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 has Android 10Q from the factory due to the fact that it came out in the final stretch of 2019, as well as Xiaomi's own personalization layer, MIUI 11. The latest available version that we have used is the newly updated 11.0.13.0.
This layer has become one of the best on the market, along with Oxygen OS and EMUI, substantially updated in this 11th version with a much cleaner and less Chinese interface, so to speak, and full of customization options for the terminal. Along with the improvements in authentication speed, it also includes an ideal dark mode for AMOLED screens like this, improved Always On, AirDrop transfer system or screen projection system.
In fact, a substantial improvement has been made in energy management, which, although it has caused many problems in terminals with native Android 9, has worked fabled here. Another interesting function for many will be the themes app that has been included, where we will be able to download many variants, counting on the classic and the one we see in the screenshots of this terminal. I personally like the classic more.
And of course, another of the improvements of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 comes directly in the photography application and the way to process the image. We will see all this in the next section specially dedicated to it.
Penta rear camera: maximum versatility
If for something they have bet on this Xiaomi Mi Note 10 it is in the photography section, although it is true that even the most expensive flagships perform a better color treatment, such as the Pixel, Samsung or iPhone. But we must place ourselves in its price range, and of course in versatility it is the best on the market.
And where it needed to improve, and it has done so, is in the application, now with a better night mode in practically all terminals, and a very complete and clean interface with which we can interact. In total we will have no less than 6 cameras, 5 rear and one front. Do you think it will fail in any section?
Five rear sensors
The rear configuration consists of 5 sensors that we will detail right now:
- 108 MP main sensor: this time being the Samsung Bright S5KHMX, which are also mounted on the new Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, keep an eye on this, because they are the most current flagships of the Chinese brand. It has an ISOCELL 0.8 µm objective, a size of 1 / 1.33 ”, 1.69 focal aperture and optical stabilization. Second Ultra Wide Angle Sensor: A new generation Sony IMX350 Exmor RS with 20MP with a 117o field of view and CMOS BSI lens has been installed. This time it has a pixel size of 1 µm, sensor size of 1 / 2.8 and focal length 2.2. Third telephoto sensor: this is a 5 MP OV08A10 Omnivision that performs the function of optical x5 zoom, and has a 2.0 focal length. With it we can zoom hybrid x10 and digital x50 Fourth portrait and depth mode sensor: the next sensor on the list is a Samsung S5K2L7 12 MP with 2.0 focal aperture that is responsible for portrait mode at the rear and also provides depth. This sensor also has an optical zoom x2 Fifth macro sensor: finally we have a 2 MP sensor exclusive to the new macro mode that is included to take photography at 1.5 cm, and that will be the sensor located at the lower end obviously.
Along with them we have an autofocus system, as well as optical stabilization for the main sensor and digital stabilization in the rest. The rear camera is capable of recording videos in 4K @ 30 FPS, 1080p @ 60 FPS, slow motion in 1080p @ 240 FPS, and up to 720p @ 960 FPS. This is the maximum capacity of the hardware you have installed, and you have only lacked recording in 4K at 60 FPS. In all cases, the IA function can be used for practically all types of photography.

The fact of having a 108 Mpx sensor does not make it the best camera on the market, since this requires ex-post image processing and an application to match the circumstances. This is something that is also improving in successive updates from the Chinese manufacturer, finding us with very natural and highly detailed photographs. White exposure is really good in more or less favorable conditions without sinning overly processed images, a tactic that many mid / low range use to make very good photos.
The luminosity in all the sensors is very good, as we see in the captures of the bus and the landscape with the different modes. The 108 MP mode is a separate function that gives us an extra detail in the photos, in fact by zooming we have found many details that are often overlooked, such as birds flying in the sky, or insects in the trees. This mode does not provide a better photo in the visual aspect, but it does provide greater detail for cropping and zooming. We have noticed that the wide angle is the least bright sensor of the three main ones.
Precisely the zoom is one of the most outstanding characteristics of this terminal, since we do not have one but two sensors that perform the telephoto function. The one in portrait mode which is an unpretentious x2 zoom and the one specially dedicated to it with a highly detailed x5 zoom. In combination with the main one it is capable of reaching x50, a real madness if we want to capture something very far away with fair quality.
Night photography is undoubtedly one of the most improved in Xiaomi terminals. Now we have much better processing and the focus of this sensor helps a lot. Get very natural images, with an increase in exposure without losing the detail or burning the most illuminated areas such as traffic lights or lampposts. It also eliminates very well the reflections of point foci.
Regarding the HDR mode, I also liked it a lot, giving a higher contrast to the whole image in general without exaggerating too many colors. It is something that unfortunately does not look as good in these compressed captures, but it works great. And as for the macro mode, it is quite interesting to take very close photos, 2 MP is enough to get a good photo without much pretense. We have bothered a few bees to get these interesting captures, one more way to squeeze this Xiaomi Mi Note 10. And finally the rear panel portrait mode is equally good, with fully defined images in its entirety and an adjustable bokeh effect through various modes from the application.
As for video capture, it has a good optical stabilization especially at 30 FPS, being able to do up to a x6 zoom in the recording. But we do lack many other features such as being able to select the sensor to use on the fly, more recording modes on the brand and the 60 FPS. We will be able to record with all the sensors, but always separately in each one of them.
Selfie camera
For the front camera, a single 32 MP Samsung S5KGD1 sensor with ISOCELL-type lens and focal 2.0 has been used. It offers a pixel size of 0.8 µm and a 1 / 2.8 sensor size. With it we can record 1080p @ 30 FPS with digital stabilization.
This sensor already has a fairly wide range for use in other terminals, and that leaves us with very good selfie benefits. Those 32 MP will give us very good detail in the photography, controlling the backgrounds very well with too much light and with sharp contrasts. Where it slackens the most is in portrait mode as we can suppose as it does not have a second sensor that controls depth.
Application
The application shows us the usual interface of Xiaomi although with somewhat more simplified functions depending on the terminal we are using. From the photography screen we can choose the sensor to use, while below we have all the image modes including 108 MP, portrait, night, panoramic and pro mode, in addition to video, short video and slow motion.
In the upper area of the application we find the different capture options, such as HDR, flash, AI and predefined touch-ups. Each sensor has its own settings, accessible from the button in the upper right corner. As it has been commented, where more options are missing is in the video mode, that we will not be able to alternate between different sensors while recording.
5260 mAh bestial battery
Where Xiaomi has put the rest with its Mi Note 10 is in the battery, specifically in its capacity because we have no less than 5260 mAh in a terminal 158 mm high and only 208 grams of weight. Also with the hardware we have and the AMOLED screen, the autonomy is going to be completely beastly.
In both the Pro and normal versions it is exactly the same battery, one that implements 30W fast charge with charging of this capacity included. We do not have wireless charging, much less reversible charging, something for now is only used by Xiaomi in the top range terminals such as the new Mi 10. It is a good charging speed for this price, and at least they have had the detail of including the charger maximum capacity.
The autonomy of this terminal is going to be two days more than enough if you make frequent use of the terminal, using the camera high brightness and 4G. In fact doing just that together with stress tests we have reached two days with an impressive 43%. It is the advantage of having a Snapdragon 730G instead of more powerful CPUs.
And we end with the connectivity of this terminal, which is going to be very good. The presence of NFC connectivity and complete navigation pack with GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and Beidou cannot be missing at this point . Network connectivity consists of Wifi a / b / g / n / ac dual band 2 × 2 MIMO up to 1.7 Gbps at the 5 GHz frequency. To this we add Bluetooth 5.0 LE and LTE 4 × 4 MIMO up to 1.2 Gbps. But it is also included an infrared sensor and FM radio, making it the complete pack.
Final words and conclusion about the Xiaomi Mi Note 10
The truth is that few cons can be extracted from this Xiaomi Mi Note 10, a terminal that marks the way between premium mid-range terminals and the new generation of Xiaomi in flagships. We already missed the Note, and the manufacturer has responded, now we only have one Mi MIX 4 left, we are on the right track.
In its design what stands out the most is the screen with lateral curvature, a resource that was not even used in the flagships of the previous generation and that the manufacturer needed to compete with its rivals. The finish is impeccable, in aluminum and glass with a palette of three very different colors and very elegant. Mind you, a fairly large traditional drop-type notch has been used, as well as a fairly prominent camera panel.
Xiaomi has bet mainly on cameras and versatility, and the play has turned out very well. We have no less than 5 rear cameras and a front one, all of them with excellent performance. 108 Mpx, x5 zoom, and up to x50 digital, 20 Mpx wide angle, macro sensor and of course portrait mode. Very few offer so much, and also to a great degree with camera app updates. We do lack better video performance, which is not up to a high end.
The screen is at an excellent level for the price range, with AMOLED technology and very good features such as HDR10 or 600 nits of brightness. 4D curvature is a differential spectrum, although direct competition is starting to use 90 Hz almost on a regular basis, while this is 60 Hz. For your benefit we say that the calibration and color representation is somewhat superior to the Realme X2 Pro and Oppo Reno on duty.

The hardware perhaps surprises many, since the usual thing at these prices is to use Snapdragon 855, being in this case a 730G with an improved GPU. The manufacturer has chosen to invest in photo sensors instead of TOP hardware, but it is still a good CPU for gaming and especially for the autonomy of the phone. This is accompanied by 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage without expansion. Autonomy is a section that is at another level in this terminal, with more than two days with demanding use thanks to the 5260 mAh.
MIUI 11 has established itself as one of the best layers, due to its fluidity, stability and large number of options. Perfectly integrated with Android 10Q and with very low battery consumption. The sound section is correct without more, good detail, but a single speaker and with a volume not too high. Biometric sensors have improved a lot with MIUI 11, being really fast and accurate, something I needed to compete against OnePlus and Realme.
Finally the official price of this Xiaomi Mi Note 10 is about 500 euros and 600 euros for the Mi Note 10 Pro in which only memory and storage changes. On Amazon we find it for the price of 416 and 525 euros respectively. There is no choice but to give it a well-deserved note and a badge of recommended for how round it is.
