Amd prepares three radeon rx vega, superior to geforce gtx 1080 ti
Table of contents:
AMD is working on a total of three graphics cards based on the new Vega architecture, all of them will make use of the Vega 10 core although in different configurations of active cores and frequencies to cover a performance from the GeForce GTX 1070 to the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti or even superior.
AMD Vega lives up to the best of Pascal
Thanks to 3DMark we have been able to know a total of three AMD Radeon RX Vega graphics cards with code names 687F: C1, 687F: C2 and 687F: C3. All of them are equipped with 8 GB of HBM2 memory, so it seems that Sunnyvale's have wanted to simplify development to offer cheaper solutions. According to 3DMark TimeSpy, the smallest of the new Vega family offers superior performance to the GeForce GTX 1070, while the most powerful is at the level of the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, so it could be superior ahead of the launch of the final version.
AMD confirms the launch of Radeon RX Vega in June
AMD's strategy with Vega seems very similar to the one we saw with the Fiji core, which brought to life a total of four cards, the water-cooled R9 Fury X, the R9 Fury with 12.5% fewer shaders, the R9 Nano that amazed everyone with its compact dimensions and the Radeon Pro Duo with two Fiji cores.
AMD Vega takes twice the available video memory
AMD is expected to put the new cards on the market throughout the second quarter so they will surely arrive in June. AMD has played a lot betting on the HBM2 memory which has forced it to launch the cards very late, hopefully they will live up to what is expected of them or we could be facing a great failure.
