It was a matter of time, the first benchmarks of an AMD Ryzen R7 1700X processor have already appeared, one of the most powerful models that will put Sunnyvale's on the market with the new Zen microarchitecture.

AMD Ryzen R7 1700X put to the test

The AMD Ryzen R7 1700X is a powerful processor consisting of eight physical cores at a speed of 3.4 GHz in base mode and 3.8 GHz in turbo mode, all with a TDP of 95W. This processor has been tested in Passmark PerformanceTest 9.0 although for some strange reason the turbo was deactivated and low-end (17-17-17-39 2T) 2400 MHz memories have been used alongside an MSI A320 motherboard.

Best processors on the market (2016)

Stranger still is that in the tests several Intel processors have been used although with a strong overclocking, for example the Core i7-7700K has been used at a frequency of 5 GHz to make us believe that the AMD Ryzen 7 1700X processor is less powerful. The worst thing of all is that it has not been explained that the Intel processors are oceanized, they have simply listed them at their stock speed.

The publisher has noticed the strangeness of the results and has tested its Core i7-6800K to the test on its stock frequencies. In this particular test, the Ryzen R7 1700X processor manages to prevail over its rival in a total of 6 out of 9 tests, remember that it has the turbo mode disabled and does not use XFR technology either, so it is not showing its full potential. In the global CPU Mark test test the AMD Ryzen R7 1700X processor reaches 15, 084 points compared to 14, 786 points for Intel silicon.

With the launch of the new AMD Ryzen processors already shortly before the first samples begin to arrive to analysts, then we will be able to know if the new AMD microarchitecture is a real threat to Intel or not.
