ASUS plans to launch its own VEGA based graphics card like many other manufacturers, we are talking about the ASUS ROG STRIX Radeon RX Vega 64. Today we have the first data on this graphics card plus some performance tests, where the Chinese company has managed to increase frequencies and improve temperatures.

ASUS ROG STRIX Radeon RX Vega 64 poses for the cameras

The STRIX model has two 8-pin power connectors, but the power delivery is slightly modified. The maximum power limit is 260W for the GPU (compared to 240W for the reference design) .

As a result, the performance would be slightly below what is obtained with an overclocked reference VXA RX, and of course, higher than the reference version with frequencies in stock. Of course, this at the cost of increasing energy consumption by 9%, going from 301W of consumption to 328.5W.

Thanks to the air cooling system that ASUS implements to the ROG STRIX Radeon RX Vega 64, it has been possible to lower temperatures by about 11 degrees at full workload, going from 85 degrees Celsius to 74 degrees. Noise generation was also significantly improved by almost 25% at full load, from 60 dB to 45 dB (decibels).

Comparison against the reference RX VEGA 64

ASUS is careful not to give any release date for its ROG STRIX Radeon RX Vega 64 and the graphics card used in testing appears to be a sample that still needs to be polished before it hits stores.

We will keep you informed of all the personalized graphics cards that emerge from VEGA 64 and VEGA 56.
