Asus presents Asus Strix Z270E Gaming an ATX format motherboard, with great features to get the most out of any game and with high-end components.
Although the new Z270 series does not incorporate many improvements, if it is important to think about acquire it before a Z170 due to the increase in LANES, Dual M.2 system and increased BIOS support for years to come.
We thank Asus for trusting us with the product for analysis:
Asus Strix Z270E Gaming technical features
Unboxing and design
The Asus Strix Z270E Gaming It is presented in compact packaging and as we saw in its microATX version, we see a picture of the product and all the certifications that guarantee its performance.
On the back they indicate all the most important technical characteristics of the motherboard.
Once we open the box we find the following bundle:
- Asus Strix Z270E Gaming motherboard. SATA cable set. Rear hood. SLI HB ROG bridge. Processor installation system. Instruction manual and quick guide. CD with software. Stickers to identify all wiring.
As we can see, it is an ATX format board with dimensions of 30.5 cm x 24.4 cm for the LGA 1151 socket. The board has a design that we love since the base black color and the matte black PCB combines great with any component..
As the name implies, it incorporates the latest Z270 chipset that is compatible with all Intel Skylake processors and the new Intel Kaby Lake. Specifically, it supports both Intel Core i7, i5, i3, Pentium and the Intel Celeron battler.
Image of the back, as we can see does not bring any reinforcement in the form of armor.
The Asus Strix Z270E Gaming divides its cooling into two zones; the power phases and the new Z270 chipset. All supported by 5 Way Optimization technology and Asus PRO Clock that reduces loading time, reduces the famous jitter in extreme conditions (overclock with LN2) and greatly improves stability in a normal overclock. All this, helps the motherboard to a greater longevity and durability.
And is that the motherboard has a total of 8 phases of power for the processor, another two for the iGPU and one for RAM. All supported by the Digi + chip that has accompanied us for so many generations.
The board incorporates a total of 4 64 GB compatible DDR4 RAM memory sockets with frequencies from 2133 MHz to 3866 MHz (overclocking) in Dual Channel and is compatible with the XMP 2.0 profile.
The Asus Strix Z270E Gaming presents a very interesting distribution of its PCI Express connections. It has three PCIe 3.0 slots at x16 and normal PCIe cyatris at x1. The PCI Express 3.0 to x16 incorporate a reinforcement, called Asus SafeSlot, which is responsible for supporting and giving greater connectivity to the graphics cards that are so heavy that we can currently find them on the market. We would have liked to find this technology in the DIMM sockets of the RAM memory.
The motherboard offers compatibility with Nvidia and AMD graphics cards . In the case of Nvidia it allows us to connect two graphics cards in SLI, while with AMD in CrossFireX up to 3 graphics cards.
View of the control panel, USB heads , USB 3.0, ROG Extension and TPM. Although if we look above we see an M2 NVMe connection.
As expected, it incorporates an M.2 connection to install any SSD with type 2242/2260/2280/22110 format (42/60/80 and 110 mm). As we have already discussed, these devices are very fast and have a bandwidth speed of up to 32 GB / s.
It incorporates an improved 8-channel SupremeFX sound card sound card. Among its most interesting features is the compatibility with amplifiers for headphones and high impedance speakers.
Regarding storage, it has six 6 GB / s SATA III connections with RAID 0.1, 5 and 10 support and a U.2 connection .
Finally we detail the rear connections of the MSI Z270 Gaming PRO Carbon. They are made up of:
- 1 x PS / 2.1 Keyboard / Mouse Combo Port x 1 DVI-D.1 x DisplayPort. 1 x HDMI. 1 x Optical S / PDIF Out. 5 x Audio Jack. 2 x USB 3.1 Type-A + Type-C. 4 x USB 3.0 (blue).1 x ASUS Wi-Fi GO! Module (s) (Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac and Bluetooth v4.0.

BIOS
The launch of these new boards brings a little BIOS facelift. Specifically, the Asus Z270E Strix Gaming incorporates improved options and lacks nothing. Actually, it is the highest range of microATX format on the market. Good job Asus!
Final words and conclusion about Asus Strix Z270E Gaming
The Asus Strix Z270E Gaming comes to cover the performance and quality of the previous generation Asus Maximus VIII Hero. A motherboard that has a very pleasing design to the eye, features RGB lighting, dual SLOT M.2 and great overclocking capabilities.
Although in our tests we have passed all our tests of the i7-7700k 4500 MHz, although we have also managed to easily reach the 4900 MHz, obviously with a little more voltage than the ROG range stops that we analyzed at launch.
We recommend reading the best motherboards on the market.
We also liked the best in PCI Express slots and its SupremeFX ROG sound that allows connecting professional headphones for the most enthusiastic users.
Its store price ranges from 235 euros and is positioned in one of the best quality / price motherboards on the market. A 100% recommended product.
