We thank Asus for trusting the product for its analysis:

Asus Z270G Strix Gaming technical features

Unboxing and design

The Asus Z270G Strix Gaming It comes in very compact packaging. On its cover we find an image of the motherboard, model name and the great variety of certificates it incorporates.

Already in the back we have all the most important technical characteristics detailed.

Inside we find the following bundle:

  • Asus Z270G Strix Gaming motherboard. Backplate. Instruction manual and quick guide. Installation kit for Intel processors. CD disk with drivers. SATA Cables set. SLI HB cable. Adhesive stickers for handling and wiring. ROG coasters. Wifi antennas.

The Asus Z270G Strix Gaming is a micro ATX format motherboard for the LGA 1151 socket and seventh generation Intel Kaby Lake processors. The plate has a sober, attractive design that combines very well with any component on the market. Its PCB, unlike the rest of the generation, is black and it is screen printed linearly.

Beautiful view from the back.

The motherboard features two zones with cooling: power phases and Z270 chipset. It has nothing more and nothing less than 8 + 2 + 1 power phases supported by Digi + technology. Among them it incorporates the advantages of Asus Pro Clock, digital control voltage, the PRO Clock chip and a reinforced socket. All this reduces the loading time, reduces the jitter in extreme overclocked conditions and improves the stability of the system .

The Asus Z270G Strix Gaming It is very friendly with 3D printing to allow users to design different parts to give the plate a very personal and exclusive touch, thanks to which each of them can be unique and different.

Another of the great protagonists is its advanced RGB Aura LED lighting system, which is present in 5 independent areas, providing us with a total of nine different effects from which to choose

  • Static: Always on Breathing: Slow cycle on and off Strobe: Turns on and off Color cycle: Goes from one color to another Music effect: Responds to the rhythm of music CPU temperature: Changes the color according to the load of the CPU Comet Flash Off

Detail of the 8-pin EPS connection.

It has a total of 4 DDR4 RAM DIMM slots that are compatible with a maximum of 64 GB with frequencies up to 4133 Mhz and compatible with the XMP 2.0 profile. Of course with Dual Chanel technology so that we can get the most out of our new processor. In addition we see the internal USB 3.1 connection, the 24-pin power connector and a head for the fans.

The motherboard allows us to connect a total of 4 fans that we can adjust its curve from the BIOS. There is also a head that allows us to connect a liquid cooling pump, without using a MOLEX cable.

The Asus Z270G Strix Gaming offers us the possibility of mounting a MultiGPU system. All this thanks to the two PCIe 3.0 to x16 slots with SLI / CrossFire 2 Way support. That is, we can perfectly mount two GTX 1080 or GTX 1070 Strix.

To expand with extra cards we can use any of the two PCI Express x1 connections. We have plenty of possibilities, to get the most out of a smaller box.

It is also important to know that it incorporates a slot for the M.2 connection and thus install any disk of this format and type 2242/2260/2280/22110 (42/60/80 and 110mm). There is also a second SLOT between the first and second expansion slots.

To this are added the 6 SATA III 6 Gb / s ports so we will not lack storage capacity, we can also perfectly combine all the advantages of the high speed of SSDs and the large capacity of HDDs.

Being a very high-end board we find interesting additions such as compatibility with two RGB Aura LED strips to give it a greater touch of color, WiFi AC wireless connectivity (2T2R Wi-Fi with MU-MIMO 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac) and Bluetooth 4.1 to be able to use all kinds of devices and of course it is fully prepared for the installation of a custom liquid cooling system.

It incorporates an improved 8-channel SupremeFX sound card sound card. Among its most interesting features is the compatibility with amplifiers for headphones and high impedance speakers.

Among its rear connections we find:

  • 1 x PS / 2.1 x ASUS Wi-Fi GO! module (Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac and Bluetooth v4.1) 1 x DisplayPort1 x HDMI1 x Network (RJ45) 1 x Optical S / PDIF out 5 x Audio jack (s) 2 x USB 3.1 Type- A + Type-C2 x USB 2.04 x USB 3.0

The Asus Z270G Strix Gaming is the best option that currently exists in the gaming world in microATX format. A board with 8 power phases, supports 64 GB DDR4 at 4133 MHz, possibility of mounting an SLI, mounting a RAID 0 of M.2 NVMe disks, compatible with high-performance liquid cooling pumps and a design that we have fallen in love with.

We recommend reading our guide to the best motherboards on the market.

In our tests we have found that its performance is exceptional, and it lives up to the best motherboards on the market. Regarding overclocking, we have set the i7-7700k up to 4800 MHz with a voltage lower than 1.28V.

It also incorporates the exceptional LAN Guardian network card with the Intel chip and an upgraded SupremeFX ROG sound card with an internal DAC. What can we ask for more? Nothing more right now

Its price in stores is estimated at just 250 euros and will begin to arrive in Spanish online stores in the coming weeks. It reminds us very much of the Asus Gryphon from 2 generations ago.
