Unboxing and design
The Asus Strix Z270i Gaming is presented in a small cardboard box. In the front area we find an image of the product, in large letters with a slight angle, the name "Strix" and all the certifications it incorporates.
While in the rear area we have all the most important technical characteristics of the product.
Inside we find a complete bundle:

The Asus Strix Z270i Gaming is an iTX format motherboard with dimensions of 17cm x 17cm for the LGA 1151 socket. At the design level it is a work of art, from its excellent color combination: black and metallic gray in its heatsinks as for a matte black PCB that looks great.
One of its most important characteristics is found in the back, where we visualize a small M.2 SLOT to connect one of the two NVMe disks in our ITX system. Making the most of the space! Good Asus!
About the cooling, it has two heatsinks that keeps the 8 supply phases at bay, to the Z270 chipset and the M.2 disk that we see we left the socket, but we will talk about this later.
And it is that Asus has incorporated in all its components the Digi + technology. What does this mean? We simply have the best components on the market. Among them we find: capacitors with 10K Black Metallic protection, MicroFine Alloy Chokes and Power Block MOSFET
It features 2 32 GB compatible DDR4 RAM memory sockets at speeds of up to 4266 Mhz and XMP 2.0 profile. The board has a USB 3 connection . along with a power / reset button, another to clear the BIOS, ROG Connect and a Debug LED.
Being a motherboard with such a small format we find a single PCI Express x16 slots that allows us to install any high-end card on the market.
It incorporates a sound card with SupremeFX technology with the new S1220 codec that isolates component interference (EMI) much faster and better. We have already seen this card in older sisters and the Maximus. The result is very, very good!
Add a total of four 6 GB / s SATA III connections with RAID 0.1 and 5 support. As we can see, we do not have SATA Express connections, but if we want to reach vertigo read and write rates we can install up to two M.2 NVMe disks.
This is where we go into greater detail as it uses a dual level heatsink. What is double level? It performs the options of cooling a very cool Z270 chipset and the M.2 NVMe pads which are quite hot. This solution offers great performance and improves read / write rates for these new SSDs.
Don't worry that the colored lights are present as a good Gaming product. Asus has made the Asus Strix Z270i Gaming compatible with Asus Aura Sync technology with a 16.8 million color palette. One of the lighting systems with more effects, higher product quality and that combines great with all its high-performance peripherals.
On connectivity it incorporates a Wi-Fi GO! which incorporates a wireless Wifi 802.11 AC network card and the very useful Bluetooth V4.1 connection. Finally we detail all the rear connections of this small but large motherboard:

To check the stability of the processor and motherboard we have stressed with Prime 95 Custom and air cooling. The graphics we have used is an Nvidia GTX 1080. Without further delay, let's see the results obtained in our tests with a 1920 × 1080 monitor.
BIOS
As we expected the new BISO of the Asus Strix Z270i Gaming is one of the best we have seen. It allows us to monitor temperatures and fans, adjust overclocking parameters and a large number of utilities. Nothing to envy an ATX motherboard!

Asus has re-launched one of the best ITX motherboards on the market. The Asus Strix Z270i Gaming arrives to meet the needs of those users who need to get the most out of their unlocked processor "-K" and do not want to have a large tower.
The Asus Strix Z270i Gaming incorporates a total of 8 power phases, an excellent dissipation system along with a dual M.2 NVMe connection for connecting high performance drives.
In our tests, we managed to boost the i7-7700k to 5 GHz with Corsair H100i V2 liquid cooling. Although all our results have been passed at stock speeds so that they can be compared with other motherboards that we have analyzed. Great job from Asus!
Also worth noting is the SupremeFX sound card with high-end headphone capability and Wi-Fi GO connectivity with support for Bluetooth and Wifi 802.11 AC.
We missed that Asus did not launch the Asus Maximus IX Impact, which seems that it will not come true at the moment, but the Asus Strix Z270i Gaming covers all the demands of the most gourmet users. Its store price ranges from 210 euros, we know that it is not a cheap product, but it is worth every euro that we invest in it.
