Be quiet Silent Base 601, as it could not be otherwise, comes in a neutral cardboard box such as 99% of the chassis on the market, which, due to the great weight of the box and its dimensions, makes it quite complicated to transport. For the part that we consider main we have a complete presentation of the chassis in black ink along with the make and model of the chassis.

On the other side of the box, we have a lot of information about it such as a disassembly diagram of all parts of the box along with information about each of the components. In addition, we also have a list of the main characteristics of the model that we have. With boxes like that for which we need instructions!

The chassis in question is perfectly coupled by means of expanded polystyrene corks and wrapped in a translucent plastic bag. At the same time around the underworld we have a complete instruction manual so that we can know everything about this beautiful chassis.

It is a chassis of great dimensions as we have been able to see in the initial data sheet, with dimensions of 532 mm long by 240 mm wide and 514 mm high and weighing nothing more and nothing less than 11.22 Kg. In addition to these measures, the manufacturer details many other measures of its different elements in order to have complete information about each of them. We have seen it important to mention that the main compartment for the motherboard and hard drives has measures of 483 mm long by 318 mm high. So we have a lot of effective space for components and refrigeration

We begin to comment on the details of each of its visible elements. Its right side has a large 4mm thick tempered glass window with very good visibility of the entire interior of the chassis. In this case we will not have to remove this element using screws, since it has a quick extraction system with the push of a button on the back.

In the front two lateral elements stand out with detailed oranges that we will also have available in other colors such as black, gray and red. Within these elements we have the corresponding air inlets or outlets protected with metal grids to prevent the passage of solid elements inside. In the lower area we also have another air inlet.

The central panel is completely made of smooth black plastic with only the brand logo in its lower area. We highlight that this panel is completely removable if we push it up.

We uncover this front part of Be quiet Silent Base 601 to see what it houses inside. The first thing we find is a particle filter that occupies absolutely all the part that allows air flow. The mesh is really fixed and dense so we will obtain excellent insulation in the internal area. In this part we find a 140 mm fan with fluted blades already pre-installed for greater air flow.

On the right side, we will have the classic smooth black metal sheet. This is also quickly removable by means of a button in the rear area. Inside we will have a compartment for the management of 35 mm wide cables. Enough space for lots of cables.

This panel will be responsible for absorbing the sound of fans and especially mechanical hard drives so that it is not transmitted by the metallic elements of the chassis.

We go to the top of this Be quiet Silent Base 601 where we will find the entire I / O panel in the front area. This is made up of the following elements:

This chassis is very wide and we immediately notice this when we see the expansion slots that we have. In total they will be 7 in a horizontal position, enough for an E-ATX motherboard and also another two vertically to install a graphics card in this position, something very fashionable nowadays. Of course, we will have to acquire the PCI-Express connector independently.

We look up to find a ventilation grille for air extraction. In this we will already have a 140 mm fan pre-installed. In addition, in the upper area we will see the two buttons we referenced for removing the side panels from the chassis.

To finish, we will take a look at the lower area where what stands out the most is that it is completely open to air flow. Interior and assembly

We entered fully inside this chassis, to find ourselves with a huge space in which to work. We highlight that support all types of boards: Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, ATX and Extended-ATX. This assures us the installation of the top plates of some manufacturers, ideal for high performance gaming equipment.

The compartment stands out for its careful design with protective rubbers matching the color of the chassis for the cable openings. We will also have an area for the installation of up to 5 compartments for the installation of 3.5 or 2.5-inch hard drives.

We will have enough space to install graphics cards up to 449 mm (which there are not) if we do not install the hard drive expansion box in the front, and 288 mm if we place one of these driver bays just in the position of the graphics card. We can install CPU coolers of up to 185 mm. More than enough space to put what we want.

If there is one thing we can highlight about this Be quiet Silent Base 601, it is the possibilities we have for ventilation and cooling. Let's look at all the possible settings.

This makes a total of 7 fans, both 140mm and 120mm, so the performance is outstanding. We have two pre-installed 140mm fans, and the interesting possibility of installing a fan in the PSU area to cool the compartment.

In other words, we can basically introduce any top range model available on the market. It is good to have a chassis with these wide measurements. The upper part has two removable rails for easy installation of the cooling exchangers.

With the installation up and running, we haven't noticed any sound coming out of this chassis, so the soundproofing work is exceptional.

As a final aspect and no less important we will see that Be quiet Silent Base 601 offers us in terms of storage possibilities. We will have up to 7 spaces available for 3.5-inch drives with 3 of them from the factory and up to 14 spaces for 2.5-inch drives and SSDs with 6 spaces from the factory.

Thanks to the right side area of the main compartment we will have these wide possibilities. Just behind the area of the motherboard we will have three spaces available for SSD drives.

To complete the benefits, we will have a compartment completely isolated from the rest of the components for the installation of PSUs of up to 288 mm. In the following photos we can see how the wide space available for cable routing in the rear area is noticeable.

To get some negative aspect of this chassis, we have it quite complicated. It would be interesting to have another fan on its 140mm front to complete the configuration. Or some led strip inside to improve the visibility of the components through the tempered glass window.
