BG Gaming Raven RGB is the first mechanical keyboard that the Malaga brand has created for the gaming world. A keyboard that installs versatile OUTEMU Red switches with good touch and linear travel. The best of all will be its price since it does not exceed 30 euros, something incredible for a mechanical keyboard, and it also has customizable lighting from the keyboard itself.

As always, we thank BG Gaming for trusting us by transferring this product to us for analysis.

BG Gaming Raven RGB technical features

Unboxing and design

The brand has never neglected to provide this BG Gaming Raven RGB mechanical keyboard. We find a large thick cardboard box with the black and green color that distinguishes the brand along with a huge photograph of the illuminated keyboard and its brand and model.

Behind, of course, we have basic information about the keyboard along with its main characteristics.

Inside this box, we find the keyboard inserted in a cardboard mold and in turn inside a padded bag to protect it from bumps and scratches. In the upper area we have a compartment specially dedicated to the USB cable, which is fixed on the keyboard.

Finally we extract the keyboard along with its user documentation, which does not inform how to use the lighting effects and other multimedia keys of the BG Gaming Raven RGB. We must bear in mind that in this case we do not have a support software to carry out configurations, so everything will be carried out from the keyboard.

No doubt BG Gaming has adjusted its production costs to the maximum to manage to make a product of considerable quality and at such a tremendously low price. We will already detail everything that this mechanical keyboard can offer us.

Here we have the general plan of this BG Gaming Raven RGB, even without lighting activated. It is a mechanical keyboard in full configuration, with its 105 keys and the numerical pad in the right area. Of course it is a keyboard with Spanish QWERTY distribution with measures 452 long, 185 wide and 42 mm high with stretched legs. The weight rises to 1250 grams.

One of the features that will surprise you is that the entire base where the keys are installed is built with a black painted aluminum plate with beveled and shiny edges. It is a great detail that this keyboard leaves us in terms of external appearance, although the support area and the rest of the covers are made of normal plastic.

Both in dimensions and in appearance, we have no great surprises compared to other keyboards. It presents us with well-raised and high-profile keys with a slightly greater curvature in the corners than usual, although with a separation to which we are perfectly accustomed with 100% of mechanical keyboards.

BG Gaming Raven RGB does not come with an available wrist rest. In addition, in this case we will not have a specially enabled area to facilitate access to the keys, such as a softer bevel or a more extensive base in the area. That is why the hands will have to be kept high and the wrists keep them in the air while we write or play, in lengths we may miss a wrist rest, especially if we are used to it.

The elevation on the other hand is 42 mm, which is considerable and the standard of practically all keyboards. We can perfectly appreciate that its base is aluminum and the traditional curvature of the keys.

The sensations of touch are generally good, we have a linear pulsation without sound and with little friction in the path, which makes the pulsations fast, agile and with very little sound. What we do notice are some keys with a certain movement in their couplings, and sometimes, depending on how we press the route, it will return with some friction.

We then go on to see in more detail the switches mounted by the BG Gaming Raven RGB. These are OUTEMU Reds, which we already know are a pretty good copy of the Cherry. In this case we have a clearly linear path and without activation sound and ideal for use in writing and also in games.

The actuation force is 47 grams, the trigger point is 2.1 mm and the total travel distance is 4 mm. In addition, the brand ensures that they have a durability of more than 50 million clicks.

The other characteristics that this keyboard has make it to a quite good level, with a pollin rate of 1000 Hz and Anti-Ghosting capacity, in which each key sends its signal independently, and also N-Key, which is the ability to map the keys that we press simultaneously.

We see that the lighting system is by means of round LEDs located at the base of each switch, located in the area above them. In general, we will not see that it is too powerful lighting, but it is striking configurable.

The legs raise the keyboard from its original position by about 15 mm. In our case and because we do not have armrests, we find a better position with them folded, more horizontal and taking advantage of their rubber supports that well isolate the general noise of our action on the keys.

BG Gaming Raven RGB has also wanted to think about accessibility, and has arranged a total of 12 multimedia keys located on the F keys. These are multimedia functions, volume control and other useful for search and navigation. The " Fn " key will be located in the right area next to "Alt gr"

At this point we must make special reference to the keyboard lighting control system. We do not have software as we have said, so what we will have to do is press the key next to "Right Ctrl" and the arrow keys. With the up / down directions we will be setting the brightness power of the lighting, and with the left / right directions we will be setting the speed of the effect. To change the effect among the 10 available, we will have to press the " insert " key.

We conclude not without first mentioning that the BG Gaming Raven RGB has wired connectivity, through a USB 2.0 interface with a 1.8 meter long cable. In this case we will not have routing holes under the keyboard, although it is a braided cable.

Something to keep in mind regarding lighting is that this RGB must be taken with tweezers. This is because each of the key rows has an associated color, starting with dark blue and ending with white. Although it is true that we can change the animations of this, at no time can we change the color associated with each row of keys. So what we really have is a 7 color palette distributed by rows.

Final words and conclusion about BG Gaming Raven RGB

Well, we have been using this mechanical BG Gaming Raven RGB for several days to see what sensations it leaves us. In general, the experience has been positive, it is true that it is not a high-end keyboard, but we have not had any typing problems either, with the correct operation of the Outemu Red switches and quite quiet we must say. It is true that, depending on how we press, we will notice a non-identical friction in all the keys, in addition to the small loose movement in them.

As for design, we appreciate very good quality. We have a hard aluminum base with no hole where dirt can accumulate and a fairly hard and thick plastic bottom case judging by the touch and the weight of more than a kilogram. In this aspect we miss a larger and beveled front edge or in its case, a palm rest.

We recommend reading the best keyboards on the market

We consider switches to be good for both writing and gaming, although from experience they will work best when playing. It is interesting to have 12 multimedia keys and also the total anti-Ghosting function with N-Key, oriented of course to gaming, and it also works correctly. Also interesting is the fact of being able to modify lighting animations from the keyboard itself, although we do not have support software or advanced possibilities.

The lighting is not RGB, at least not as we know it, since we have 7 different colors, but the LEDs do not change their color, only their animation. Finally, this BG Gaming Raven RGB can be found for a very tight price of 30 euros, undoubtedly one of the cheapest mechanical keyboards on the market, so, whoever wants a mechanical keyboard, can not say that there is not.
