Corsair continues betting on pre-assembled liquid refrigerations with the launch of its new Corsair Hydro Series kits, this time we bring you in analysis of the Corsair H150i PRO version which is the most powerful of the two available configurations so that your processor stays cold even in the most demanding overclocking conditions.

How will you perform with our high performance test bench? Do not miss it! Let's start with the review!

First of all, we thank Corsair for the trust placed in transferring the product to us for analysis.

Corsair H150i PRO technical characteristics

Unboxing and design

Corsair H150i PRO is presented with luxury packaging typical of high-end products, the kit comes to us in a cardboard box, with the company's corporate colors and characteristic design. On its cover we can see a high quality image and its most important characteristics in perfect Spanish.

We open the box and find the Corsair H150i PRO perfectly accommodated by several pieces of cardboard to prevent it from moving during transport, Corsair has put a lot of care to make it reach the end user's hands in the best possible condition. On the second floor we find all the accessories.

The complete bundle includes:

  • Corsair H150i PRO liquid cooling kit. Hardware for installation. Adapters for INtel and AMD. Three 120mm fans. USB cable for Corsair Link. Instruction manual and quick guide.

We are already focusing on the Corsair H150i PRO, it is a high-end AIO liquid cooling with a 360mm radiator that has been designed to offer great cooling capacity while maintaining very quiet operation in all conditions. Includes three 120mm ML Series fans with magnetic levitation bearings that maintain a maximum noise of just 25 dBa. All this can be configured using the advanced Corsair Link software so that you can get the most out of each element.

We focus on the radiator and we see a sober design while elegant in black, it reaches measures 396 mm x 120 mm x 27 mm and is made up of a multitude of very thin aluminum fins that have the function of increasing the heat exchange surface to maximize the cooling capacity of the kit.

From this radiator the tubes that carry the cooling fluid to the water block depart, they are corrugated tubes with articulated joints that allow enough movement, this will help us install the heatsink in a simpler way. Of course the tubes are completely sealed to avoid risks of fluid leakage.

Finally we see the water block for the CPU that includes the pump. Thus Achieving a very compact and lightweight design, this block has a lighting system with the Corsair logo to improve the aesthetics of your team and make you the envy of all your friends.

It could not be anything other than an RGB system making it highly configurable in color and light effects using Corsair Link.

It is a ceramic pump that has been designed to offer very quiet operation and great reliability.

We have to see the fans, three ML Series units have been included with a size of 120 mm and that have an innovative magnetic levitation bearing design as mentioned before, this allows the maximum noise to be only 25 dBa at reduce friction while improving service life. These have the ability to rotate at a maximum speed of 1600 RPM generating an air flow of 47.3 CFM with a static pressure of 1.78 mm-H2O. As we can see, they are very high-end fans that will allow us to get the most out of this heatsink. The aesthetics have not been neglected either with an RGB lighting system included in the blades themselves.

These fans include the Zero RPM mode of operation that keeps them turned off in low-load situations to achieve a quieter team when working on light tasks such as office automation. Corsair H150i PRO is compatible with all current Intel and AMD sockets, this includes LGA 1151, 1150, 1155, 1156, 1366, 2011, 2011-3, 2066 and AMD AM2, AM3, AM4, FM1, FM2.

Mounting on AM4 platform

Corsair surprises with a new AM4 platform block installation system. Which I appreciate a lot, since it is super fast to install and that in just a few minutes we have it mounted.

The good thing about this system is that we should not remove the plastic brackets that our motherboard has installed. It is as simple as installing the magnetized support in the block together with two threaded screws, 1 on each side and make the fastening in this way:

With quality pre-applied thermal paste, we do not need to install a thin film on the processor. Once both screws are tightened, in such a way:

We proceed to connect the SATA power cable, the PWM cable that sends a signal with the RPM of the pump to our motherboard, the microUSB cable to access its Corsair Link software and especially the three fans to the "thief cable" that comes out directly from the block.

To test the real performance of the heatsink we are going to stress with an interesting AMD Ryzen 7 1800X at stock speed and overclock. Our tests consist of 72 uninterrupted hours of work in stock values and with an overclock of 4050 mhz at 1.35.

In this way, we can observe the highest temperature peaks and the average that the heatsink reaches. We must bear in mind that when playing or using other types of software, the temperature will drop dramatically between 7 to 12ºC.

How are we going to measure the processor temperature?

For this test we will use the internal sensors of the processor under the supervision of the HWiNFO64 application in its latest version. We believe that it has positioned itself as the best on the market and even more so as a free version. Let's see the results obtained:

Final words and conclusion about Corsair H150i PRO

Corsair starts 2018 on the right foot! During our review the Corsair H150i PRO has matched the AM4 platform with one of its flagships: AMD Ryzen 7 1800X with 8 physical cores and 16 threads running at 4050 MHz.

In our performance tests we have found that the 360mm radiator is great for processors that generate a lot of heat. For example, we see an ideal option to cool the Intel processors of the LGA 2066 platform. It is also very important, that Corsair has relied on one of its top-of-the-range fans: Corsair ML 120 with magnetic motor, ideal to get the most out of it..

As we have seen, the installation is super simple and the new anchorage system for AMD is amazing. We believe Corsair has done a great job and the badges awarded are well deserved.

We recommend the best liquid refrigerations on the market

But does the pump make a lot of noise? We at least have not been able to hear it, except that you stick your ear a few mm from the block. So we doubt that you will listen to it with the box closed. A real grave!

We also really liked the RGB lighting that you can enable (and disable) from the Corsair Link software itself. What more can we ask for?

Although it seems that the price is somewhat high, 175 euros in the main online stores, it seems to us more than justified by its design, performance and fans used (each is worth 22 euros). So we highly recommend your purchase for enthusiastic teams.
