There are currently many types of keyboards, a wide variety of mechanical switches, and formats. But few, as interesting as the Corsair K63 compact keyboard with Tenkeyless format (TKL).

One of its great advantages towards high-end brands such as Filco is that its layout is in Spanish and incorporates excellent MX-RED switches. Do you want to know more about him? Don't miss our review!

We thank Corsair Spain for trusting the product for its analysis.

Technical characteristics Corsair K63

Unboxing and design

The packaging of the Corsair K63 is compact and robust. On the cover we have an image with the product in question, the exact keyboard model and the switches it uses.

While in the rear area we have all the technical characteristics of the product.

Once we open the box we find:

  • Corsair K63 keyboard. Instruction manual and quick guide.

The Corsair K63 has measurements of 365 x 171 x 41 mm and a very light weight of 1.12 kg. It is built by a premium plastic surface and a very minimalist design. We love this design because it greatly facilitates cleaning tasks.

The keyboard is distributed in 74 keys made up of the alpha-numeric area and function keys in the upper area. Having no specific macro keys or full numeric keys, the Corsair application allows us to use any of them as macro keys.

In the upper right corner we have the brightness keys, which allows adjusting the brightness from three levels. While the second button allows us to block the Windows key.

We also have buttons in the upper corners, all of them multimedia that allow us to lower / increase the volume, mute the audio and play music with a single press.

We can see that on the sides there is no frame that protects the switches, facilitating the cleaning of the keys and the base of the keyboard itself.

As you have already seen on the web, there are many types of switches: Cherry: MX Red, MX Brown and MX Blue. Our sample is the Cherry MX-RED version ideal for those users who are looking for a greater gaming experience, although there are the MX-Speed that have a speed of 1.2.

We miss the classic USB 2.0 HUB and an audio input / output.

We cannot forget that the keyboard incorporates both the N-Key Rollover (NKRO) technology and the always useful Anti-Ghosting that improve both the gaming and daily experience.

In the rear area we have the rubber feet that offer two positions, and four other rubber bands that prevent the keyboard from slipping, together with a product identification label. It seems to us a very successful design and we congratulate Corsair for the piece of keyboard they have assembled.

It is curious how Corsair has left the possibility of attaching a wrist rest that is not present on this keyboard. Future version or pack? Time will tell.

On the cable, this time, we only have a USB 2.0 connection and the cable is protected by a plastic cover. We don't have any top-notch mesh as we're used to in the high-end Corsair series.

Corsair Utility Engine Software

In order to configure the entire keyboard it is necessary to install the configuration software that we can download from the Corsair official website. Specifically we will lower CUE (Corsair Motor Utility). Remember that the keyboard does not incorporate RGB lighting, but it does have red LEDs.

Once we open the application we find three main options to modify:

  • Actions: It allows us to create macros and configure the keyboard at will. Lighting effects: we can choose the classic lighting effects but without modifying the base color: red. All very useful, to be in love with this keyboard. Performance: While this section allows us to configure various keys if we activate the option to block the Windows key and the intensity of the primary color.

It also allows us to save a total of 4 profiles, which will be very helpful in the different game titles.

WE RECOMMEND YOU Corsair announces Vengeance Pro, Obsidian 500D RGB SE and the iCUE App

Final words and conclusion about Corsair K63

The Corsair K63 keyboard is a compact, TKL-format keyboard. What does it mean to be a Tenkeyless or TKL keyboard? The answer is simple, it does not incorporate the numeric keypad area. This can be a problem for those users who often use it for office tasks, but for users who are dedicated to playing games, it is more of a hindrance. For the rest it is identical to a conventional keyboard and more of the Corsair quality.

We recommend reading our guide to the best keyboards on the market.

Although its design is compact, we do not miss anything, since we can create profiles, manage lighting effects via software, MX-Red switches, multimedia keys and a very good build quality.

In our tests we have seen it ideal for Gaming use. Since there are currently no keyboards in this category with Spanish distribution (include Ñ). Bravo for Corsair for taking out this cheap version of the Corsair K65 RGB .

It is estimated a price lower than 89.90 Euros and its availability will be immediate in Spanish stores.
