Corsair MP500 technical specifications
Unboxing and design
Corsair makes an elegant presentation of its first NVMe SSD: Corsair MP500 in a compact cardboard box and an internal blister that cushions any shock during shipping. On the main cover they illustrate us with an image of the SSD tablet, a brief description of the speeds of the product and the model written in large letters.
Once we open the bundle we find:
- 480GB Corsair MP500 Disc Warranty Brochure.
The design of the Corsair MP500 is as expected with a very compact design. Specifically, it has the measurements of an M.2 2280 unit, to be more exact: 80 x 22 x 3.5 mm. This small pill highlights a sticker that indicates the model in question and that it is a third-generation M.2 NVMe PCIe x4 unit.
In the rear area we have more details such as the Part Number and the serial number to be able to manage the guarantee in case of having any problem with it.
But most importantly, what does it bring internally? Well, among its technical specifications we find a high-performance controller such as the new Pishon PS5007-E7 and a total of 4 Toshiba MLC 15nm 128GB memory chips that make a total of 480GB. All this is accompanied by an old acquaintance, such as the NANYA NT5CC256M16DP-DI cache controller that will offer very good performance.
The NVMe Corsair MP500 SSDs achieve a much higher read and write than any traditional SSD. Specifically, we have a reading of 3000 MB / s and a write of 2400 MB / s. About 4KB Random reading we have 250K IOPS and one in writing of 210K IOPS that we can classify as extraordinary.
For the most curious of the electrical consumption, comment that its consumption ranges from 4mW at rest and 5 to 7W at maximum power. Expected on paper for a device of this caliber.
A total of three models have been launched on the market. From the most basic 120 GB, to one more affordable for any user: 240 GB and the third, which is the one we are analyzing… 480 GB and it is positioned as the flagship of Corsair today.
We leave you a table so that you can compare all the specifications between the cheapest model and the most expensive model that you already value for yourself.

For testing we will use the native controller of the Z270 chipset on a high performance board: Asus Maximus IX Formula. Our tests will be performed with the following performance software.
- Crystal Disk Mark. AS SSD Benchmark.
Temperatures
Regarding temperatures we have 43ºC at rest and at maximum performance it rises to 67ºC. Are they high temperatures? No need to worry, because they are totally normal for a device of this range. Surely with a good heatsink installed it would lower the device quite a bit.
WE RECOMMEND Ovevo Fantasy Pro Z1 ReviewCorsair SSD Software
Corsair has been improving on the go and incorporating good software is already a reality. With the current application, it allows us to carry out any task that this type of device brings.
For example, create a space for it over-provisioning, see all the information and SMART of the M.2 drive, be able to clone all the data from our previous disk to the current one, optimize and perform a safe deletion of all our data. Without a doubt, a great step for the company. The only downside that we see that its design (range of colors) and layout reminds us of a program from a decade ago, we believe that with a somewhat more attractive design you can have a better expectation.
Final words and conclusion about Corsair MP500
The Corsair MP500 is one of the best NVMe SSDs on the market. Both its controller and memory are very high-end. Theoretically they promise us speeds of 3000 MB / s and readings of 2400 MB / s. With our team we have reached 2776 MB / s and 1495 MB / s of writing with Crystal Disk Mark . It really falls within the logic and the practice is not noticeable.
We recommend reading our guide on the best SSDs of the moment.
Unlike the painful performance that we have seen in the Intel 600P, Corsair bets on a controller that offers excellent performance and MLC memories against the terrible 3D TLC that Intel uses.
In short, we find one of the best options for high performance SSD drives. Its price between 147 euros (most basic unit) up to 360 euros for the most tocha version (480 GB) which is the one analyzed by us.
