The new generation AMD APU for 2019, from Picasso code, first appeared on a public list, from the UserBenchmark platform. The find was from staff at the Videocardz site, who found the AMD Picasso chart as part of device ID 15D8 in the database.

AMD Picasso will arrive in 2019 and will be the replacement for Raven Ridge

Almost 10 months ago, a rumor had surfaced about the mysterious code names of future AMD products. According to the leaked slide, AMD planned to introduce Mattise as the successor to Pinnacle Ridge. That would be the first Zen 2- based processor. The slide also listed Pinnacle Ridge as a replacement for Summit Ridge, and that happened just a few months ago.

On the same slide, Picasso is mentioned as successor to Raven Ridge. Now we see that Radeon Picasso begins to become a reality with its finding in the UserBenchmark database under the identification number 15D8. Unfortunately, no performance results are available at this time, but that identification is reason enough to consider this leak credible. Current Raven Ridge APUs use 15DD ID.

According to the information we have, the Picasso series should be based on the Raven Ridge architecture, but with an improvement in the relationship between consumption and performance. They should still be compatible with the AM4 socket for desktop PCs and the FP5 socket for laptops.

According to the roadmap, new APUs based on this chip should be arriving in the coming year, replacing the current Raven Ridge line with relevant improvements.
