If you're aware of the news, Qualcomm wants to take on Intel in the line of low-power portable processors . However, it seems that his efforts are somewhat vague. We have recently seen benchmarks of the Snapdragon 8cx in Geekbench and the results are quite disappointing.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx promise

Despite Qualcomm's efforts, his latest attempts to outsmart the blue team have been negative. The most recent cases are laptops with Snapdragon chips, which did not offer the expected performance.

Neither the Snapdragon 835 nor the Snapdragon 850 managed to achieve the promises of performance, so they were a fiasco for many users. As a consequence, expectations for this new chip to be a turning point were quite high. However, to our regret, the benchmark leaks in Geekbench do not give much hope.

Previously announced on Twitter by user Longhorn , we were able to see the apparent performance of this new processor. In his thread, he pointed out that this new chip performs worse than the iPad Pro 2017 , which is not very good news.

As for single-core and multi-core performance we don't have much better data. The Snapdragon 8cx ranks slightly below the Intel Core i5-8250U , which doesn't benefit you at all.

Despite mounting transistors of only 7nm , it seems that Qualcomm does not manage to hit the key. Also, with the large market for Intel laptops, users are unlikely to pay extra money for a processor with equal or worse performance.

Not surprisingly, Qualcomm still has room for improvement. They could either improve performance or power consumption thus reaching the promise of batteries that will last more than 10 hours stably. However, everything will depend on the effort that the company prints on these processors.

And you, what do you expect from the Snapdragon 8cx? Do you think they will get a shred of the market or that they will be no match for Intel / AMD? Share your ideas in the comment box.
