Google recently released a new update to its iPhone and iPad keyboard app, Gboard, including a new capability that allows users to translate text into any language that Google Translate supports. The great advantage of this novelty is that it is now possible to send messages through the Messages app, or any other compatible text application, in different languages directly, from the keyboard itself, without having to resort to any other external application..

Messages in any language without using another app

If you have and use Gboard for iOS and want to start using this new feature, the first thing you should do is make sure that your Google keyboard application is updated to its latest official version.

From the Messages application on your iPhone or iPad, open the keyboard by selecting the text box and then press the button identified with a globe located in the lower left corner, which will give you access to the different keyboards that you have previously installed on your device.

Select the Gboard keyboard and, once you have it active, you will see the new translation function which is represented by an icon located just to the right of the Google button "G", in the upper left corner.

From here you can choose the language in which you want to translate your text. Tapping the translation button will automatically apply it to the Messages input field, so you can send the translated text directly to your contact.

The new translation feature was first released for Android smartphones in 2017. Now it comes for iOS users as well, allowing them, in addition to translating text, to send GIF files, emoji, stickers, and other cool features like slider writing or own Google search. Finally, it also connects to other Google services such as YouTube, Google Maps and Google Contacts.
