The Futuremark studio and its 3DMark and PCMark tools are a benchmark in the synthetic benchmark industry. The study anticipated what its plans will be in 2017, which focus on new tests for DirectX 12 graphics, Vulkan support and new tests for the recent VRMark.

Futuremark 3DMark

The intention is to continue adding new tests in 3DMark focused on the DirectX 12 API, but this time the new performance tests would be focused on low-end and mid-range graphics cards. 3DMark has always been characterized by offering benchmarks for intensive use and only prepared for top-of-the-range graphics cards of the moment, so Futuremark will bring new tests but adapted to the graphics that really move the market, those of mid-range and low.

Vulkan

This new low-level API will have dedicated tests exclusively for it. Aimed at Windows and Android platforms, Vulkan is gaining more and more supporters and developers that support it, it is also a cross-platform API, unlike DirectX.

VRMark

VRMark debuted last November and is focused on virtual reality technology. Futuremark noted that it continues the development of this tool and hopes to launch new tests during 2017, with support for PC and mobile platforms.

The first look at these developments will be at CES (Consumer Electronics Show).
