G.skill ripjaws v review

G.Skill is a leader in the manufacture of RAM for laptops and desktops. The Ripjaws range has been classic for over a decade for all computer enthusiasts, offering excellent cooling and modules with highly competent speeds.

With the release of DDR4 memory less than a year ago, G.Skill has already launched the new Ripjaws V range improving on the previous IV with better latencies and voltage. Also with a more renewed and attractive design for the X99 and Z170 platform. Specifically we have the 3200 mhz high-range model, will it be able to pass all our tests? Here we go!

G.Skill Ripjaws V

We find a classic presentation among the memories of G.Skill, specifically a plastic blister closed by ampoules at all four corners. In the front area we see a stamp that refers to DDR4 memories and compatible with the X99 chipset and the sixth generation Z170 chipset , while in the back we see all the technical characteristics, serial number, latency and voltage of the memories.

Specifically, we have a pack of four DDR4 modules of 4GB each, which make a total of 16GB. The heatsink it carries reminds us a lot of the Ripjaws 4 version, but the effect is more aggressive. Specifically, we have a black color, which looks great, its PCB is also black, which makes it a perfect kit to combine with any motherboard. As we have been able to inform ourselves, we will have several colors available: red, blue and black. As technical characteristics it has 288 DDR4 pins, a speed of 3200 Mhz, a latency of CL 16-16-16-36, a voltage of 1.35 v and Dual and Quad Channel technologies.

Regarding the design we can see two faces. In the first we have a sticker that refers to the "Ripjaws V" series with red letters the logo and a rather discreet design. While on the reverse we have some specifications: the exact model of the module, speed, CL and serial number. About the heatsink a little more we are going to tell you, it is more than enough to support the 3200 mhz and we are not going to need any type of active cooling. We will not have any problem with high-end heatsinks or motherboards of any format, since we have a height of 5 cm.

Final words and conclusion

The G.Skills Ripjaws V is about DDR4 modules designed to perform at the highest level and with incredible temperatures. Aesthetically they are very successful and the speed capacity (3200 mhz) and its overclock maneuver give it an ideal plus for the Siberian consumer. On the features it has everything to succeed: 3200 MHz, low voltage of 1.35v, XMP 2.0 profile, CL16 latencies (16-16-16-36), ability to overclock to @ 3400 MHz, attractive heatsink and compatible with any board base, air cooling and watercool. We are going to find a variety of colors: black, gray, blue and red.

In our tests we have gone from synthetic tests like games giving an outstanding result. For example, we have gained 2 FPS compared to 2400 Mhz.

It is not yet in an active online store, but in the coming weeks they will arrive in Spain. The price will be very attractive since they will be around 140 to 165 euros, making it the best quality / price option on the market.
