Surely all our readers remember the controversy that arose when they discovered that the GeForce GTX 970 had only 3.5 GB of high-performance VRAM and that the remaining 0.5 GB offers much lower performance, strangling the card by requiring the use of more than 3.5 GB of video memory. It looks like history is going to repeat itself in a similar way with the Geforce GTX 1070.

GeForce GTX 1070 with only 7.5GB?

After seeing the first benchmarks of the GeForce GTX 1080 we look at its younger sister, the Geforce GTX 1070 and quickly see something that catches our attention. The card was supposed to have 8 GB of video memory but 3D Mark only informs us of 7.5 GB so we could be facing a situation similar to that experienced with the GeForce GTX 970, only this time it will be a lot less noticeable as the card has much more high-performance memory. The memory offers an effective speed of 8 GHz which translates into a bandwidth of 250 GB / s with a 256-bit interface.

If we look at the result of the 3D Mark 11 Performance test, we appreciate a score of 9, 038, which places it slightly above the GeForce GTX 980Ti in its stock configuration. There is no doubt that the GeFoece GTX 1070 offers a very high performance but the question is : Will Nvidia be honest this time or will it lie to us again with the specifications of its new graphics card?
