After its launch last month, we bring you the review of the Gigabyte GTX 1050 Ti G1 Gaming that is postulated as one of the great options for the entry-level and mid-range. A card that meets the needs of eSports users and users who play at the most common resolution: 1920 x 1080p.

As always, we thank Gigabyte Spain for giving us this product for analysis.

Gigabyte GTX 1050 Ti G1 Gaming technical features

Design and unboxing

Gigabyte presents us in a compact box its new Gigabyte GTX 1050 Ti G1 Gaming 4GB graphics card. On the cover we find all the certifications that it incorporates.

While on the back they indicate all the technical characteristics of the product in more detail and its rear connections.

Once we open the product we find the following bundle:

  • Gigabyte GTX 1050 Ti G1 Gaming graphics card. Quick guide. CD with drivers and management software.

The Gigabyte GTX 1050 Ti G1 Gaming graphics card uses the new graphics architecture Nvidia Pascal, specifically it is the GP107 that It is manufactured in 16 nm FinFET and one of the most efficient cards having a TDP of just 75W.

Among its dimensions we find a quite small size in ATX format: 219 x 118 x 40 mm and a width of dual slot more than enough for installation in any box on the market.

These transistors are distributed within the chip in a total of 6 Streaming Multiprocessors units, these in turn contain the large number of 768 CUDA cores with Pascal architecture. We also found no less than 48 texturizing units (TMUs) and 32 crawling units (ROPs).

The Streaming Multiprocessors run Some frequencies in its 1, 356 MHz GPU in base mode that goes up to 1, 480 MHz under Turbo B oost 3.0 for really good performance. Custom models come more nut hikes, so their performance is far superior to this reference model.

GDDR5 memory continues to accompany us from several previous generations and surely this is the last batch of graphics cards to mount them, to make way for the new HBM memory chips. The card has 4 GB of effective 7000 MHz GDDR5 memory and a total TDP of just 75W, as we have previously commented.

As expected, it has its classic Windforce 2X heatsink but with a renewed aesthetic. As we can see, it has quite aggressive orange lines and has two 90 mm fans. Among its novelties we find an alternative design to the rotation of the fan that optimizes air flow up to 23% and dissipates much more heat.

The fans will always be passive under minimal load, but when the card reaches a certain temperature they turn on, thanks to the upper LED it indicates at all times when it is active or not.

The Gaming G1 version has a 6-pin PCI connection for its power, since being a special model with higher revs it needs an extra demand for energy. It also jams less to the PCI Express connection on the motherboard.

Finally we show you the rear connections made up of:

  • 1 DVI connection, 1 DisPlayPORT connection, 1 HDMI connection.

PCB and internal components

To remove the heatsink we must remove four screws located on the chip and we can quickly detach the refrigerator.

It has two copper heatpipes that help cool the Pascal chip and keep temperatures well. It is also accompanied by a wide aluminum base that cools the entire PCB and the memories (aided by the memories).

The Gigabyte GTX 1050 Ti G1 features a custom PCB with 4 + 1 power phases and Ultra Durable components. The chosen phases, memory chips and PCBs are of great quality, along with their solders.

For benchmarks we will use the following titles:

  • 3DMark Fire Strike normal.3DMark Fire Strike version 4K.3dMark Time Spy.Heaven 4.0.Doom 4.Overwatch.Tomb Raider.Battlefield 4.Mirror's Edge Catalyst (New) .

All tests have been passed with the filters to the maximum unless we indicate otherwise. In order to have adequate performance, we have carried out three types of tests: the first is the most common at Full HD 1920 x 1080, the second resolution is making the leap to 2K or 1440P (2560 x 1440P) gamers and the most enthusiastic with 4K (3840 x 2160). The operating system we have used has been Windows 10 Pro 64 bit and the latest drivers available from the Nvidia website.

What are we looking for in the tests?

First, the best possible image quality. The most important value for us is the average FPS (Frames per second), the higher the number of FPS the more fluid the game will go. To differentiate the quality a bit, we leave you a table to assess the quality in FPS, but we will also have the minimum Fps in the tests that were thus possible:

FRAMES BY SECONDS

Frames for Seconds. (FPS)

Gameplay

Less than 30 FPS Limited
30 - 40 FPS Playable
40 - 60 FPS Good
Greater than 60 FPS Fairly Good or Excellent

Synthetic benchmarks

We attach the most important tests that we can do at synthetic levels, among them we find Time Spy, 3DMark Fire, 3DMARK Fire Ultra and Heaven 4.0 with DirectX 12 support.

Game Testing

We have decided to make the leap to checking various games manually. The reason? Very simple, we want to give a much more realistic vision and cover tests with current games. Since we make an effort, it is consistent with the level of the website and that of our readers. This time we have not inserted the graphics with the 4K performance tests because they are really irrelevant.

Overclocking

Note: Remember that overclocking or manipulation carries a risk, we and any manufacturer are not responsible for improper use, use the head and always do so at your own risk.

We have increased the overclocking capacity by + 130 MHz in the core to a maximum of 1785 MHz (base goes up to 1680) and the memories with an increase of +300. The result is the gain of just 4FPS… although not many, but at least we get a little extra.

Temperature and consumption

The temperatures of the Gigabyte GTX 1050 Ti G1 Gaming have been really good, with considerably less noise and temperatures than the reference model. At rest we have obtained 44ºC (remember that it is a 0DB system, which is the same as a fan stopped at rest) and at maximum performance it reaches up to 61 ºC in no case. Since the overclock has been so mild, temperatures barely rise to 63ºC .

Another of the great advantages of this range is the reduced consumption that we have in the equipment. Until very recently it was unthinkable to have high-end graphics and get 60W at idle and 140W playing with an Intel i7-6700K processor at stock speeds.

Final words and conclusion about Gigabyte GTX 1050 Ti G1 Gaming

We have come across a Gigabyte GTX 1050 Ti G1 Gaming with a compact size, excellent cooling and no noise at rest. It allows us to activate a normal profile or another with overclock.

In our tests we have been able to verify that it is one of the best entry-level graphics cards on the market and that it complies perfectly in Full HD and can be defended in 1440p.

It is currently available in Spain for a price of 199 euros, which positions it in the intermediate price of this series. We think it is one of the best 1050 Ti we can buy, but its price is very close to the 3GB GTX 1060, which is much higher. Everything will depend on your pocket.
