We are approaching the holiday season and these days a number of fake graphics cards are starting to circulate at laughable prices, like a GTX 1050 Ti for $ 50. Knowledgeable users would be suspicious just by looking at them, but many other people could fall for it. The GPU-Z app is being updated to be able to identify these fake relabelled graphics cards.

GPU-Z will help users identify a 'FAKE' graphics card

With this wave of 'suspicious' graphics cards circulating on the network, several 'Tech YouTubers' asked for several of these cards to see what was happening, the results were interesting. Most of what was discovered was that the cards came with much older GPUs than they claimed, often with much less actual memory than what was represented in GPU-Z.

To help identify these fake graphics cards, TPU has finally updated the GPU-Z app to detect these fake GPUs and help people who have been tricked into saving a few bucks. The latest version v2.12.0 added detection for fake graphics cards using old relabelled NVIDIA GPUs (G84, G86, G92, G94, G96, GT215, GT216, GT218, GF108, GF106, GF114, GF116, GF119, GK106).

It's A Trap!

Surely most of us know what to expect from a crazy looking GTX 1050 Ti and for $ 50, but as we enter the holiday season there are many people who do not know much about the subject and can fall for these fakes. The GPU-Z tool can now help to really certify that it is a fake, even by adding the tag.
