HP has announced that it is launching a defective battery replacement program with several government regulatory agencies. This is because some of your portable devices and workstations have security issues related to your power unit.

Some HP computers have a defect in their batteries

The computers affected by the battery problem are the HP Probook 64x (G2 and G3), ProBook 65x (G2 and G3), HP x360 310 G2, ENVY m6, Pavilion x360, 11 and ZBook (17 G3, 17 G4 and Studio G3). Users of these equipment must know that they are at risk if their equipment was purchased from December 2015 to December 2017.

The biggest complication of this situation is that many of these devices have an internal battery, which cannot be easily removed, so it is necessary to go to an authorized technical service to make the repair. Of course the operation will have no cost to the user.

As a temporary solution, a special BIOS has been released, which puts the battery of these affected computers in a safe mode, in this way it is possible to continue using the system without any risk. HP recommends that all users of affected computers update the BIOS and activate this security mode as soon as possible. What this measure does is to discharge the battery and prevent it from being recharged even though the equipment is connected to the electrical network, that is, the equipment starts to function as if it had no battery.

To find out if your computer is at risk, all you have to do is download and run a small application that the manufacturer makes available to users. In a few seconds you will know if your team is affected or not.
