Asus tuf gaming x570 plus motherboards are presented at computex 2019

The family of X570 chipset boards is expanded at the manufacturer, with two models called Asus TUF Gaming X570 Plus in version with and without Wi-Fi. Maximum durability and military grade components for gaming users, with boards that implement the new PCIe 4.0 slots.

What's new in the TUF series for 3rd generation Ryzen

Asus always brings news in its new generation plates and the TUF family could not be less, in fact, it is very positive news that there are also two X570 chipset plates in this range, one of which has greater personality and followers in the brand. Obviously we will have somewhat more discreet features than the powerful ROG Strix and ROG Crosshair.

The most interesting news from Asus come in the VRM area, an element that is responsible for providing power to the CPU and RAM. Now the number of phases has been increased to distribute the power of each one more equitably, thus achieving more contained temperatures, especially in overclocking processes where an extra stability is needed. The configuration is based on a PWM controller that manages two phases with independent MOSFETS and CHOKES.

The other novelty of course lies in the chipset, the AMD X570 is an evolution aimed at offering the best features for the new Ryzen, although we must know that these new CPUs are also perfectly compatible with current X470 and B450 chipsets. So why do we need a new one? Well, to obtain support with the new PCI-Express 4.0 slots, capable of doubling in performance to those of the 3rd generation, that is, each data line offers a speed of 1969 MB / s up and down. This is extendable to M.2 slots for storage units.

Asus TUF Gaming X570-Plus (Wi-Fi)

These are two boards in ATX format, the first of them offers us integrated Wi-Fi connectivity, something that the brand has established almost as a standard in its models. The difference with the high-end in this case, is that we have an Intel Wireless-AC 9260 chip well known to us, so we will not have Wi-Fi 6, and this is something to consider for those who plan to buy this license plate. So it offers us 2 × 2 connections at 1.73 Gbps, so nothing new here.

Where the novelty lies is precisely what we have discussed, an AMD X570 chipset that is capable of housing 128 GB of RAM in 4 DIMMs at 3800 MHz and 3rd Generation Ryzen processors. In this case, two working PCI-Express 4.0 x16 slots are offered , one at x16 and the other at x4.

Luckily, the two M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 slots remain and are also compatible with SATA for drives of size 22110, capable of offering theoretical speeds of 8, 000 MB / s. The number of SATA III ports amounts, as in the other models, to 8.

The rear port panel is made up of 2 USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-A and one Type-C port, along with 4 USB 3.1 gen1 ports. We also have HDMI and DisplayPort ports for AMD integrated graphics video connections. Wired connectivity is also a basic 1000Mb / s with Realtek L8200A chip and the sound card consists of another Realtek S1200A chip, instead of the high-end S1220A. Compatibility with Asus AURA Sync has also been ensured by two 4-pin RGB headers and one A-RGB.

The second model offered by this range is practically identical in performance, although we lose this integrated Wi-Fi AC card. In addition, as a curiosity it has 3 PCIe 4.0 x1 slots instead of the two that have the previous model.

Otherwise, both in ports, RAM capacity and multimedia elements, it is exactly the same motherboard. So it will be aimed at users who do not need Wi-Fi and want to save some euros on this model located in the mid-range of the new generation.

Availability

We finish with the availability of these new plates, because in the cost section there have been no news about the product. And like the other models, they will be available from the first fortnight of July, coming out simultaneously to the new AMD Ryzen that have been presented.

We believe that despite being cheaper boards than ROGs, it would have been interesting to implement a Wi-Fi 6 card instead of staying in the previous generation.
