December 13 is the date set by AMD to present its new generation of Zen processors, in the event that is called as 'New Horizon'. The latest information indicates that AMD will present Zen and the new AMD X370 chipset together with the most important motherboard manufacturers in the sector.

We will see the first AM4 motherboards at the New Horizon event

The New Horizon event will be broadcast via live streaming and there will be the presentation of the new Zen processors that we have talked about so much this year and that are the hope of AMD to compete against the fearsome Intel i7. The event will also present the AM4 socket motherboards that will house these new processors and all the benefits of the AMD X370 chipset, which will take all the juice out of this new architecture.

AMD X370: What we know about it

Although we have to wait until December 13 to know in detail the ins and outs of the new AMD X370 chipset, what we know so far is that it incorporated the native support for DDR4 memories, third-generation PCI-Express connectivity, M.2 connections, NVMe and SATA Express. We will also have new SLI and CrossFire configurations that are now capable of supporting two full-power x16 PCIe or four x16 PCIe running at x8.

It is also commented that the AMD X370 chipset will offer more options to modify in the BIOS, so we will surely have superior overclocking capabilities than previous models.

The new family of Zen processors will be divided into three:

SR7: What will be the top-of-the-range processors with 8 physical and 16 logical cores with the new technology SMT (Simultaneous Multi Threading).

SR5: They will belong to the mid-range with 6 physical 12 logical cores.

SR3: This will be the input range of processors that will have a maximum of 4 physical and 8 logical cores.

Zen processors are slated for release in early 2017.
