Lenovo ThinkPad L390 and L390 Yoga unveiled with Intel Whiskey Lake chips
Lenovo's ThinkPad L-series notebooks represent the value class of Lenovo's ThinkPad product range, attracting both professionals and consumers who want a more serious notebook solution. They will be priced from $ 659 for the L390, and $ 889 for the L390 Yoga, and will be available in December in either black or silver.
The new L390 Yoga maintains two useful features that were also offered on the L380 Yoga: the hinge-mounted “World Camera” that can be used for workers or students in the field, in addition to the Lenovo Active Pen inside the L390 Yoga's chassis. This last feature helps to avoid losing the Active Pen in a backpack or in a shirt pocket, a comfort that few of its competitors -with the exception of the Samsung Notebook 9 Pen , perhaps- offer. Both laptops are also MIL-SPEC certified for durability.
The new "Whiskey Lake" chips promise 10% more performance than previous Kaby Lake R eighth-generation chips, and 50 percent more performance than a seventh-generation Intel Core chip.
Both laptops are easy to use, with USB-A and USB-C ports, although there is no Thunderbolt yet. There's also a fingerprint reader and a Windows Hello certified front depth camera. Otherwise, the new enhancements are largely internal. This is what we know about the L390 and the L390 Yoga:
