Problems for the professional social network LinkedIn. Apparently, as already reported by various media, they could have violated the data protection of a total of 18 million of its users (there are 600 million users on the web). They used user data for ads on platforms like Facebook. The company itself has acknowledged using these emails in a way that was not transparent.

LinkedIn reportedly violated data protection of 18 million users

This information has come to light thanks to a report by the Irish data protection commission. It is shown that the company had therefore violated the new European data protection law, in force since the end of May.

Problems for LinkedIn

It is not the first time that the company has had problems due to the way it treats users' personal data. Although in this case, LinkedIn could have new legal problems in Europe, which would mean facing a fine. To obtain more users, the company uses the mail of unregistered people in non-transparent forms.

In addition, they were later used for advertising on platforms such as Yahoo, Facebook or WhatsApp. So the company is accused of using data from European citizens in unauthorized ways. At the moment, the consequences for the company are not known.

LinkedIn has admitted errors in data processing, so it is likely that they will announce some measure to alleviate criticism. On the other hand, we hope to know what will be the decision of Europe, if there will be any investigation or fine to the company. Since for now there is no data about it.
