The MSI GS43VR 7RE comes in a very compact black cardboard box. On its cover we can see printed the logo so characteristic of the brand. While in the back area we do not have any remarkable data.

The MSI GS43VR 7RE is a notebook with a very small format. It has a 14-inch screen and a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD). The screen is made of a 16: 9 matte IPS panel and 157 PPI that presents very successful colors.

Designers you're in luck! MSI has been encouraged to incorporate True Color technology that offers higher color contrast and greater detail in each image. This is great for users who spend many hours in front of the computer editing images and even videos.

The laptop features super small dimensions of 345 x 245 x 21.8 ~ 22.8 mm. When we saw it in the first person, we said, "Wow, how small!" And is that its weight is close to 1.8 kg. That is, we are facing an ideal laptop to take it on any trip without leaving our backs on it.

Among its connections we find an RJ45 connection inside (this is rare in ultra-thin books), card reader for SD cards, power input and a USB connection. While on the other side we have a USB 3.0 connection, another USB Type C and an HDMI connection.

We have a CHICLE keyboard signed by the prestigious Steelseries brand. Regarding the touch, we get used to it quickly (my last two laptops were MSI) and both the touch and the key travel are quite pleasant. Without a doubt, a great option to consider.

Although it is backlit it does not incorporate RGB functionality. For us it is a point against, since it uses the color red and the same there are users who do not like the combination (although it looks good). Although it does not incorporate the best sound on the market, it is supported by Nahimic Sound 2 technology, delivering a 360 sound experience

What does it offer? Mainly a high definition sound that increases the audio and voice of your gaming computer. Enjoy immersive 7.1 sound over your stereo audio equipment.

At the bottom of the laptop it incorporates enough grilles to have more than efficient ventilation. Although if you want to open it (as we have done), it has a guarantee sticker that, if it breaks, "you may get more trouble when dealing with the company."

Remember: MSI allow you to make small updates: RAM, hard drives and little else… Is it always advisable to send an email to give you the go-ahead or the risks involved?

As for the processor we find an i7 7700HQ of the socket socket FCBGA 1440 with 4 cores and 8 threads based on the Kaby Lake architecture at a frequency of 2.6GHz and a turbo frequency of 3.5 GHz with a TDP of 45W.

It has an amount of 16 GB of DDR4 SODIMM RAM at 1.2V and 2400 MHz in dual channel. A more than recommended amount both for playing and for graphic editing.

On storage MSI has opted for a 512 GB SSD disk drive in NVMe M.2 format with a reading of 2150 MB / s and a writing of 1550 MB / s. To complement a fast system we also need a good storage system, this time with a 1 TB data hard drive and a speed of 5400 rpm. We have always said that it is a great combination and MSI seems to have taken good note of our recommendations.

The graphics section has the competent Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card with a total of 1280 CUDA Cores accompanied by 6 GB of GDDR5 memory with a 192-bit interface. With these specifications we can play any game in Ultra and without messing around with Full HD resolution. This team is perfectly qualified to run any game on a 1440p screen with an external monitor. As you know it is one of the best options to have the best experience in virtual reality.

Test of performance

MSI Dragon Center allows us to do whatever action we need. For example, it allows us to customize the image quality, monitor the temperature and frequencies of the processor and graphics card, take control from your smartphone thanks to its Official APP. We already know it from other occasions and it is the best that MSI has launched years ago.

Regarding performance tests we have passed Cinebench R15 and the result is fantastic thanks to its i7-7700HQ processor that shoots up to 736 CB points. A result at the height of any desktop computer.

Among the tests we have passed normal 3DMARk Fire Strike, its Ultra 4K version , Time Spy and the new Superposition. The results speak for themselves.

Finally we leave you the performance tests with several very demanding titles and the most played of the moment. We have chosen to only pass the games to the native resolution: 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) so that you can see what good performance it offers as is.
